Good morning, dear members of the Parliament,

Thank you all for being here for today’s important discussion and for continuing to demonstrate your commitment to this issue. I am here mainly to discuss the importance of responding to the specific needs of women. We have stressed the importance of not only meeting these needs but also ensuring that we’re grounding our support and interventions in strategies that empower us, with the sole objective of creating a just and equal society.

Do you know what you would do if you could not vote or get a good education? Would you be upset, furious, frustrated, or annoyed? That is how most women feel when they think about this. Women have been trying to claim their rights while men enjoy many privileges that women do not have. Women’s rights allow women to be independent, free, and treated fairly.

Some of the most common rights they fight for are:

  • The right to vote
  • Equal pay
  • Access to education

Women are often deprived of education; therefore, they have to stay home and do chores for the family. Men abuse us, and we can’t do anything about it because of their status. The majority of people think that men are better, smarter, and more important than everyone else. This gives them more power.

Men often abuse women, particularly their wives. Some examples of abuse include:

  • Rape
  • Physical violence

For all of this, it's important to continue fighting for our right to vote. We do not have as many privileges as we want, such as equal pay, nor are we able to make decisions in our families. So, for these reasons, it’s important to join and support the suffragette movement, which represents and fights for our rights. Achieving the right to vote is one of the biggest steps that we could take; this will allow us to have the chance and the voice to represent our thoughts and take our place in society.

Let’s continue fighting and never surrender against these injustices.

Thank you!
