Learner-Centered Instruction
Learner-centered instruction focuses on the learner’s needs, styles, and goals. It applies techniques that foster students' creativity and innovation. Students negotiate with the teacher on the techniques used, which gives them a sense of ownership over their learning process.

Collaborative Learning
Collaborative learning focuses on the process of working together. Students are in charge of obtaining additional source material.
Cooperative Learning
Cooperative learning stresses the product of working together and is a structured interaction designed to facilitate the accomplishment of goals. Cooperative learning is more structured and prescriptive for teachers regarding classroom techniques, and more directive for students on how to work together in groups.
Interactive Learning
Interactive learning is a pedagogical model that encourages students to be an active part of the lesson instead of passive observers. Students interact with the material, each other, and the teacher in an active way. This teaching model is learner-centered rather than teacher-centered, encouraging imagination and strengthening students’ critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
Whole Language Education
As its name suggests, Whole Language Education includes language as a whole; it is not studied piece by piece or word by word. It builds meaningful connections between everyday learning and school learning.
Content-Based Instruction
Content-Based Instruction emphasizes the importance of content, in contrast to other approaches or methods that are centered on the language itself. CBI is centered on the subject matter and aims to develop students' language and academic skills. These skills are developed unconsciously through the content dealt with.
Task-Based Instruction
Task-Based Instruction focuses on the use of authentic language and requires students to do meaningful tasks using the target language. Such tasks can include:
- Visiting a doctor
- Conducting an interview
- Calling customer service for help
Assessment is primarily based on task outcome (in other words, the appropriate completion of real-world tasks) rather than on the accuracy of prescribed language forms.
