It is said that using computers and the internet develops important skills in young people, and that makes them more concentrated in doing different things at the same time. It seems to me that the majority of young people have more skills than the previous generation, and they are so used to hearing and investigating different kinds of electronic machines. To start with, the use of computers and the internet can improve skills like logic, reasoning, motor skills, coordination, etc. It depends on what kind of use the young people give to the computer. For instance, the young people who usually play games develop many of these skills, especially those related to coordination. Another case would be young people who use social networks; they enhance their communication skills. Particularly, shy young people can find in the social networks the opportunity to talk to other people without the pressure of face-to-face interaction. In addition to this, such services are usually free, and you only need an internet connection.
At the same time, young people find it very boring having to write or read a newspaper, magazine, or book, as these seem very boring. Moreover, they may often get interested in addictive games easily available on the internet, making them lose interest in their studies. In conclusion, I agree that young people should use their computers and the internet correctly. In this way, they can use their skills for productive tasks. So, it's important to pay attention to their more primary responsibilities in life, such as studies.
No Victory, No Gain: A Personal Story
I remember one day my parents told me: "No victory, no gain," but I'm not so sure that's always true. Six years ago, I was dealing with the fifth year of secondary school; it was the final year of my school stage, and I had to decide what career I would study. I am a person who likes to help other people. Besides, I had always liked the idea of saving lives someday. So, my first choice was to study medicine at Cientifica del Sur University. But, also, I liked interior design very much, which is a very different career and was not related to my real goal. Finally, I had to decide the future of my professional life. So, I decided to study medicine. Then, I began to prepare for the entrance exam and to enter college. After much preparation and effort, I remember it was in January 2010 that I gave my first entrance exam. Naturally, I was feeling nervous and did not know what the result would be. One day later, I received the news that I had not been admitted. I felt very bad and frustrated. I felt that all my effort was not worth it. Fortunately, my parents always stood by me and motivated me to continue. Eventually, I decided to take another exam. I was more nervous than the first time, but the result was positive. I couldn't believe it; I had done it. Today, in the fifth year of my studies, I can say that it is absolutely true that "no victory, no gain."
