The Murder of Tessa Quayle

In a remote area of Northern Kenya, activist Tessa Quayle is found brutally murdered. Tessa's companion, a doctor, appears to have fled the scene, and the initial evidence points to a crime of passion. Members of the British High Commission in Nairobi assume that Tessa's widower, their mild-mannered and unambitious colleague, Justin Quayle, will leave the matter to them. They could not be more wrong.

Haunted by remorse and jarred by rumors of his late wife's infidelities, Quayle surprises everyone by embarking on a personal odyssey that will take him across three continents. Using his privileged access to diplomatic secrets, he risks his own life, stopping at nothing to uncover and expose the truth—a conspiracy far more far-reaching and deadly than Quayle could ever have imagined.

Character Profile: Justin Quayle

Justin is a quiet, sensitive, and very shy man, initially lacking strength, which he gains through his occupation with plants. His primary struggle becomes uncovering the truth behind his wife's murder and continuing her work. At first, he appears reserved, but his deep concerns and determination become increasingly evident as the story progresses.

Character Profile: Sandy

Sandy works for the British government in a minor capacity. Initially, he appears faithful, partly due to his infatuation with Tessa. However, he is gradually revealed to be a cowardly and disloyal person who betrays Tessa for his own interests, accepting bribes and covering up the pharmaceutical conspiracy.

Proposed Alternate Ending

My alternate ending drastically changes the final confrontation and outcome:

The Confrontation at Lake Turkana

At Lake Turkana, Justin, instead of accepting his fate, turns around and kills Creek, a member of security responsible for his wife's murder. He is joined by Loorbeck, who appears repentant for his actions and helps Justin eliminate the remaining members of KDH's security team.

The Revelation of Dr. Arnold

Justin and Loorbeck head to Nairobi to catch a plane to England, but they are recognized by other security members. Just as they are about to be taken prisoner, Dr. Arnold appears to save them, firing upon and killing the guards. Dr. Arnold reveals that his own reported death was entirely false; the security team had mistakenly killed his twin brother. He further explains that Tessa died because she was shot first, but managed to escape the scene due to a massive sandstorm that occurred at the time.

Justice and Consequences

The trio steals a car to reach the airport quickly. Dr. Arnold guides them along a path to avoid checkpoints and security patrols. They ensure that Loorbeck's letter—detailing the terrible damage caused by expired pharmaceutical products and the unethical experiments being conducted on African children—is taken by Justin to the superior courts of Great Britain.

Upon arrival in Britain and the delivery of the letter to the UN, Pellegrin is finally imprisoned for all the damages and crimes committed.
