THE CAUSATIVE (HAVE SOMETHING DONE)

VERBS WITH TWO OBJECTS:
GIVE
Active: He gave me the book. (past)
First passive: I was given the book (by him)
Second passive: The book was given to me (by him).

IMPERSONAL PASSIVES:
These structures can be used to say what people generally feel or believe. We can find them in formal contexts such as scientific writing or in news.
