VoIP Configuration Setup (CME)

The following steps detail the configuration of individual ephones, directory numbers (DNs), and dial peers within the VoIP system. Note that placeholder values (e.g., MAC addresses, IP addresses, and descriptions) have been used where the original text was corrupted.

Ephone and Directory Number Configuration

We configure ephone 1 with its specific MAC address and assign a button type. We also define ephone-dn 2, assigning it the extension number 4002.

R(config)# ephone 1
R(config-ephone)# mac-address [MAC_ADDRESS_OF_PHONE]
R(config-ephone)# button 1:1
R(config-ephone)# type [PHONE_MODEL]
R(config-ephone)# description ICCP
R(config-ephone)# exit
R(config)# ephone-dn 2
R(config-ephone-dn)# number 4002
R(config-ephone-dn)# description Informatica
R(config-ephone-dn)# exit

Configuring POTS Dial Peer

This dial peer handles calls destined for analog phones or external SIP targets, using the G.711alaw codec.

R(config)# dial-peer voice 4 pots
R(config-dial-peer)# destination-pattern [PATTERN]
R(config-dial-peer)# port 1/1
R(config-dial-peer)# session protocol sipv2
R(config-dial-peer)# session target sip-server [SIP_SERVER_IP]
R(config-dial-peer)# codec g711alaw

CME System Initialization and Firmware Management

The following steps detail the process of installing necessary firmware files and configuring the router to serve these files to IP phones.

Firmware Installation via TFTP

First, ensure the necessary files are copied to the router's flash memory and extracted. This process often requires a router reload.

Router# copy tftp flash
Router# reload

Note: Tar files must be installed on your router.

Router# archive tar /xtract tftp://192.168.21.2/cme-basic-123-11XL.tar flash:

The IP address 192.168.21.2 is the TFTP server address.

Transferring Firmware to IP Phones

Configure the router to act as an HTTP and TFTP server to distribute firmware files (e.g., P00403020214.bin and TERM70.DEFAULT.loads) to the IP phones.

Router(config)# ip http path flash:
Router(config)# ip http server
Router(config)# tftp-server flash: P00403020214.bin
Router(config)# tftp-server flash: TERM70.DEFAULT.loads

CME Global Telephony Service Parameters

These commands define the global settings for the Call Manager Express system, including maximum capacity, IP addressing, locale, and services like Music on Hold (MoH).

Router(config)# telephony-service
Router(config-telephony)# load 7910 P00403020214
Router(config-telephony)# max-ephones 12
Router(config-telephony)# max-dnas 48
Router(config-telephony)# ip source-address 192.168.0.1 port 2000
Router(config-telephony)# user-locale ES
Router(config-telephony)# create cnf-files
Router(config-telephony)# max-conferences 6
Router(config-telephony)# keepalive 45
Router(config-telephony)# moh music-on-hold.au
Router(config-telephony)# date-format dd-mm-yy
Router(config-telephony)# web admin system name TECSUP password TECSUP
