Project 7: Jesus Christian Center Values

This project outlines an ideal set of good Christian values meant to deepen the relationship with Jesus Christ.

Specific Christian Values

Jesus left us a set of values that can guide our lives. Dignity is defined by respect and love toward others.

Central Value: God's Acceptance

A very central value is God's acceptance of all people equally and working toward the creation of conditions for the development of all people.

The Value of the Individual and Human Rights

The meeting point for individual value is found in the Declaration of Human Rights (since 1948), which outlines rights to life, freedom of expression, education, and more.

Love is the Center of Life (Project 8)

The happiest life is achieved through the intense and constant experience of loving and being loved. We need to fill our incomplete hearts.

Forms of Love

Love manifests in many different forms:

  • Family love
  • Friendship
  • Love in co-administration or task
  • Love of neighbor
  • Love and respect for God
  • Romantic love (between two people, starting with falling in love, which is the only attraction that includes sexuality)

Defining Sexuality

What is sexuality? It is more than just a sexual instinct; it is essential for personality development. It defines us as men and women and should not serve selfish purposes.

The Force of Sexuality

Sexuality is a great force that drives communication and the attraction between the two sexes.

Maturation and Understanding

Maturation is a long and beautiful process. Suggestions include: knowing your own body, being comfortable with it, and being informed about all aspects of sexuality.

Specific Sexual Behaviors

Masturbation
This often begins with the discovery of the sexual instinct and pleasure. It is not a form of sex life because it keeps the individual focused on themselves and an imaginary world.
Full Sex (Intimate Communication)
Communication is more intense and intimate between two people. It has its full meaning when two people love each other.
Free Erotic Love (Sex Outside Marriage)
When these relationships are formed outside of marriage, they become a "game" that degrades the person and reduces the act to mere instinct.

Fidelity and Exclusivity

The individual man and woman in love should be faithful and exclusive. These commitments bring the two together, and such relationships are typical of marital life.

Alternative Life Choices

Maturity in sexuality does not always require a partner for life. There are people who choose celibacy as a way of life.
