Core Principles of Christian Faith

1 - The Light: The light guides us throughout our lives, showing the path to be good Christians.

2 - Relationship with Jesus: The personal relationship between the believer and Jesus Christ is central. Believing in Jesus means embracing his ideas, values, and ideals. Faith is necessary to establish a friendship with him.

3 - Living the Faith:

  • BE WITH HIM: Maintain a friendship with him, acting and fighting for what he lived and fought, putting his message into practice and having his same attitudes.
  • FEEL sent on mission: Proclaim Jesus as our way of life and work for the kingdom of God, building a more just and humane world.

4 - The Trinity: The set of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

5 - The Bible: For Christians, it is the Word of God. Through the events and lives of the people of Israel, God makes himself known and communicates his will. The Bible transmits three main stages in revelation: creation, the history of Israel, and the life and message of Jesus. Knowledge of the Bible has reached us through tradition and the Magisterium of the Church.

6 - Dogma and Symbol of Faith:

  • DOGMA: Statements uttered by the Church, explicitly revealed by God. Dogma stems from the need to express beliefs in formulas.
  • Symbol of Faith: The main tenets of the Christian tradition are reflected in creeds or symbols of faith. For early Christians, they were a summary of baptismal catechesis, synthesizing the truths of faith. The best known is the "Symbol of the Apostles".

7 - Freedom: The ability to respond appropriately and constructively to the calls you receive. In this option, we choose between good and evil. One is free when, in an internal or external call, you choose the most appropriate response, choosing good and rejecting evil. Genuine freedom creates happiness in oneself and others.

8 - Conscience: The inner place where a person receives the calls of life, values, and decides how to respond. Acting in good conscience means deciding and acting according to what your conscience tells you, making correct decisions.

9 - Love:

  • Love God: Recognize God as the loving father, worthy of trust. Cultivate our relationship with him as a source of light and strength.
  • Love one's neighbor: See others as God's children and brothers, not as competitors. Respect their dignity and freedom, acting for their highest good.
  • Love oneself: Feel beloved by God, called to live a life of fulfillment. Take care of one's own needs, defend one's dignity, and develop attributes and skills.

10 - The Path: There is always a way, though small and narrow, that allows us to choose good. The path of freedom is not usually the easiest.
