A Childhood Robbery
When Gaizka and I were little, about eleven years old, we used to go out in the evenings to play in a park. We often met up with Ane's little brother, whose name is Peio. We had a great time every afternoon playing ball in that park.
But one day, while the three of us were in the park, a man approached and asked us the time. We told him, and then he demanded our cell phones. We tried to move away, but the man took out a knife, held it to my chest, and said, "Give me the phone, or I'll stab you."
Finally, we gave him the phones, and he disappeared. The next day, we went to the police to report the incident. After a few days, they called Gaizka and me, telling us they had arrested him and that we needed to go testify. Gaizka and I were scared to death.
When we got to the room to testify, it was like in the movies; we had to identify the suspect from a lineup of several detainees viewed through a one-way mirror. First, I went in, and then Gaizka went in. We never heard about that man again; the police didn't call us back to inform us about the outcome.
In the end, Gaizka and I were left without our phones, as they were never recovered, and with a significant scare.
Summer Holiday Email
Hey Manuel,
How are you? I'm doing very well and looking forward to seeing you again. So many things happened during these summer holidays, I don't even know where to begin telling you!
It all started when I arrived in my town. My grandfather, cousins, and aunts were waiting for me. We hugged and went to dinner. The next day, I left home to look for my friends. I found them all at the soccer field, and I joined them for a game.
That night, the last friend we were waiting for arrived in town. And you might wonder who this last friend to arrive was? It's Sergio Reguilón, the Real Madrid soccer player! That night, we celebrated his debut as a Real Madrid player.
For the rest of the summer holidays, we spent our days playing football and our nights partying. This summer has been great!
I'm sad because we're going to have to go back to school, study English, and get up early again. I hope to see you soon. What about your summer holidays?
