Sharing Favorite Past Events
Alexis: Alright, let’s get started with sharing about our favorite past events. I think it’s a great way to practice our English. I’ll begin. Last summer, I went to my cousin's wedding. It was absolutely beautiful. While the couple was exchanging their vows, the emotion in the air was palpable; some of the guests started crying.
Alexis: Definitely! After the ceremony, there was a reception under the stars. Everyone was dancing and celebrating. While the band played classic hits, the newlyweds had their first dance. It was like something out of a fairy tale. The whole event was not just about the couple but also about bringing two families together in joy.
Alexis: I agree, John. It’s those moments of connection that stick with us. Speaking of memorable, was there anything in particular that made your Christmas celebration unique, apart from the snow?
Alexis: Angel, what movie were you watching when your friends surprised you?
John: Those are both touching stories! My favorite memory is from Christmas two years ago. We had a huge family gathering. We were just finishing dinner when it started to snow outside. It was the first white Christmas we had in years, and it made the evening feel magical.
John: I think it’s about the connection. Like during that Christmas, while we were watching the snow fall, we shared stories from past holidays. It felt like time had stopped for a while, allowing us all to really be present in the moment.
John: It was surreal! Everyone rushed to the windows to watch. The kids, especially, were thrilled. They were pulling on their coats and boots to go outside. While they played in the snow, the adults stayed inside, sipping hot chocolate and catching up. It was a perfect blend of excitement and warmth.
John: That’s fantastic! Alexis, was there anything specific that made the wedding stand out, besides the ceremony itself?
Angel: That does sound beautiful, Alexis. My most memorable event was my last birthday. It was unexpected. I was watching a movie with my family when suddenly all my friends burst into the room with a cake and gifts. They had been planning it for weeks!
Angel: Oh, it was an old comedy we all love. The surprise was so well timed because just as the movie ended, my friends came in. I was totally caught off guard. The evening was filled with laughter, dancing, and, of course, lots of photos.
Angel: Yes, how did your family react to the snow? That must have been quite a scene!
Angel: It’s so interesting to hear how important these celebrations are in our lives. They seem to hold a special place in our hearts. What do you think makes these events so memorable?
