London (Chapters 1 and 2)

Antonio and his Spanish friend, Pablo, visit a traditional British pub, surprised by the early closing times. They enjoy afternoon tea at a central London hotel and attempt to hear the New Year's Eve bells in Trafalgar Square, only to be thwarted by the massive crowds. They experience a Shakespearean performance at the Globe Theatre and ride the Tube, where Antonio is puzzled by a Muslim woman covering her face, a common sight in Spain. They dine in Chinatown, attend the Caribbean carnival in Notting Hill, and struggle to understand a taxi driver speaking in Cockney rhyming slang.

York (Chapter 3)

Traveling alone to York, a city steeped in history, Antonio meets Barbara Green, who offers him affordable lodging at the Green Guest House, complete with a hearty English breakfast. He explores the Jorvik Viking Center and Coppergate Market, encounters a helpful American tourist, and marvels at the grandeur of York Minster, the largest Gothic cathedral in Europe. He also visits the Castle Museum and learns about its resident ghosts.

Oxford (Chapter 4)

Initially disappointed by the Oxford shopping district, Antonio finds solace in the beautiful gardens of Magdalen College. He enjoys fish and chips at a traditional pub, learning about the historical Scholastica Massacre. He attends a May Ball with his ex-girlfriend, Lisa, and joins the revelers jumping into the river from Magdalen Bridge.

English Christmas (Chapter 5)

Antonio fulfills a lifelong dream by riding in a 1925 Bentley, joining a gathering of the Bentley Drivers Club. He spends Christmas with his university friend Nicola and her family, enjoying traditional festivities and gifts from Father Christmas.

Wales (Chapter 6)

While dreaming of a Caribbean island, Antonio receives a call from his friend Gareth, inviting him to his wedding. He meets Angharad at the celebration and is instantly smitten. They try windsurfing, but Antonio prefers to admire Angharad from the beach. They attend the Royal National Eisteddfod, a prestigious festival of music and poetry.

Cornwall (Chapter 7)

Inspired by a travel magazine competition, Antonio decides to write an article about Cornwall. He meets Richard, an old man who shares local legends and stories. He visits Tintagel, staying at the Castle Hotel, and explores Chapel Porth, recalling Richard's tale of the giant Boster and the Piskies. Despite not winning the competition, Antonio's article is published.

Manchester (Chapter 8)

While dining with his cousin Louise, Antonio encounters David Beckham, highlighting the British fascination with celebrities. They enjoy a night out at a vibrant club and the next day, Antonio attends a football match at Old Trafford stadium with new acquaintances, David and Steve.

Edinburgh and More of Scotland (Chapters 9 and 10)

Antonio reunites with his childhood friend Martin in Edinburgh during the Festival, enjoying the lively atmosphere and performances, including a show by Rowan Atkinson. They venture north to Dunkeld for the Highland Games, camp in the mountains, search for Nessie at Loch Ness, and finally reach the northernmost point of Scotland before taking a ferry to the Orkney Islands.

Epilogue
