Chapter 1
Ben Norton loves superheroes and comics. He has seen all the superhero films and read all the superhero books. He is also a superhero in his town: he is Banana Boy. He has a banana costume that gives him superpowers. However, in his town, he feels like a nobody because nothing exciting ever happens. The Banana Boy costume used to be an old fancy dress costume from school. When he put the costume on, he gained superpowers, and nobody knew who he was.
It was the first day of the school holidays, and Ben wanted to save the world, but the world didn't seem to need saving. Ben dreamt that he was saving the town from giant pieces of falling fruit. People were stuck in sticky juice, strawberries fell from the sky… it was complete chaos. But Banana Boy was there to save the world.
When he was ready to start saving the world in his dream, a call on the banana phone woke him up. A person asked for Banana Boy's help because robots and monsters were attacking the town. Banana Boy left the phone on the table and went to save the town. The problem was that he hadn't asked where to go. He went to the special hanger where he kept his costume. He searched and searched under the bed, but he didn't find it. There were only his football kit and some lasagna pieces. He went to ask his mum, and she said it was there.
Chapter 2
His little sister, Mollie, was wearing his Banana Boy costume. Ben asked Mollie to give him his costume back, but she said no and slapped Ben in the face with her rabbit, Mr. Fluffy. He went to Mollie's room and took the kitty costume. When Mollie saw it, she took off the Banana costume and gave it to Ben.
He put his Banana Boy costume on and felt the superpowers filling his body. He ran fast down the stairs, and his mum was surprised to see Banana Boy in the house but sad because Ben couldn't see him. Ben didn't know where to go because the man who had called hadn't told him where the problem was. But he found the problem fast because, in front of the town hall, there was a huge monster that was changing its form. Now he was a crocodile; now he was a clown throwing cakes. Ben knew what to do, so he used his superpower, and he started to throw bananas at the monster, but the monster wasn't afraid of him. Before he could do anything, the monster changed shape again; Banana Boy was really afraid.
Chapter 3
Slowly, the monster started to turn into a monkey. Banana Boy was really scared. Banana Boy wasn't scared of spiders, zombies, or anything; he was just scared of monkeys, great big banana-eating monkeys. He wanted to run away, but he couldn't move for two reasons. The first reason was that he was a superhero, so he had to save the world, and the second one was that he was glued to the floor because he was really frightened. The monkey looked at Banana Boy, and Banana Boy told the monkey that he was not scared. The monkey started to tell bad jokes, and Banana Boy was not smiling, so the monkey started to get angry. He told Banana Boy another bad joke, and Banana Boy told the monkey that it wasn't funny, so the monkey got angrier and angrier.
Then Ben spotted something. On the road, there was a little girl in a unicorn costume going towards them. The way the girl skipped reminded him of someone, but he didn't know who. When the monkey saw the girl, he tried to grab her, but Banana Boy decided that he had to do something, so he used his strength to hit the monkey in the toe, but he didn't expect the monkey's reaction. Instead of going backward to the buildings, he grabbed Banana Boy and lifted him up in the air. Banana Boy told the monkey to leave him on the floor, or he'll be sorry.
