Advanced Braking — 7th Level (C)
Considerations
(level of great technical complexity and richness; includes yaw)
Objectives
(start and develop different types of advanced braking)
Content
(taco complex braking, wedge, hockey)
8th Level — Spins and Jumps
Considerations
(high level of technical complexity and richness; important for the characteristics of your domain's skating; laterality issues)
Objectives
(start and develop different types of turns and jumps)
Content
(two-step turn to jump; jumps, utilitarian support 1 and 2)
9th Level — Integration
Considerations
(collects the work of the eight previous levels; demonstrates coordination and specified technical knowledge of fundamentals; drills that integrate all acquired knowledge)
Roller Skating and Teaching Resources
Considerations
(In skating initiation it is common to use resources; factors for the choice of resources include number of students, available space, type of task, and stage. The use of these resources is aimed at developing the most significant skating behaviors: move, pass through, overcome, jump, change of pace, group skating, braking)
Objectives
Basic (decenter attention on skids and overcome the sense of risk; facilitate the teaching–learning process)
Other Objectives
(provide control of initial difficulties; take first opportunities to develop skating-specific content; offer possibilities for diversification; invite adventure; stimulate participation; overcome problems; expand teacher possibilities; serve as motivating factors)
Applications
(movement, balance, transport, launching, receptions, transfers, turns, tasks, situations, rhythm, creativity…)
Conditions for Skate Activity
- Skate (according to the activity, duration and targets; require a certain quality, shaft and alignment; must roll easily)
- Pedagogical material (school, gym and outdoor equipment)
- Space (indoor and outdoor)
- Security (respect the student's action process; use protections)
- Age (never too late; age is not a dominant criterion: early childhood, secondary education, adult groups)
Advantages of Roller Skates
- Motor / Physical (balance, displacement, varied forms, segmental dissociation)
- Affective / Partner (mutual support, risk actions, collective organization)
- Cognitive (decision making, task resolution)
- Playful / Motivator (class organization, participation, overcoming tasks)
- Novelty (various situations, exploratory activity)
