The Journey Begins

When I was young, at 16, I started receiving low marks. This disappointed my family, although I initially thought it was normal for that age. However, my friends weren't experiencing the same academic struggles. The core issue was a **lack of motivation**. This is where my journey truly began.

High School Challenges

As a result of those marks, I had to repeat grades, which changed everything. Despite my lack of motivation, I completed the last two years of high school (bachillerato) primarily due to the immense pressure I felt to succeed.

University Decisions

While preparing for the university entrance exam, I was very nervous about failing. Fortunately, it went well, and I decided to study Business Administration and Management (ADE).

A Pivotal Career Shift

I began this degree because my mom advised me about the significant opportunities in the labor market. However, within the third month, I realized the program wasn't for me. I decided to leave the university and embark on a new adventure to discover what truly motivated me.

The English Adventure and Finding Purpose

Life in Bath Spa

In pursuit of this new adventure, I moved to England, living for six months in Bath Spa, a city near Bristol in the west of the British Isles.

Discovering Pedagogy

While there, I contemplated my future, studying English and working in a café. My search for the right career path was challenging because I wanted something that would allow me to help or guide people. Then, I discovered **pedagogy** – it was everything I had been looking for.

Versatility of Pedagogy

This career path offers diverse applications; you can specialize in the education, social, or business branches.

The Indispensable Value of English

Global Communication Power

The advantages of studying English are numerous. It enables communication with a significant portion of the world's population. While it is the third most spoken language globally, after Spanish and Chinese, English has more non-native speakers learning it than any other language.

English in the Digital Age

Today, English is an indispensable tool for communication. It is the primary language of programming and the internet; virtually all new technologies are developed and documented in English.

Economic and Travel Benefits

Another crucial point, especially here in Spain, is our reliance on tourism – particularly in Mallorca. For this reason, speaking English fluently is highly recommended if you wish to apply for a job. Furthermore, if you plan to move abroad today, English proficiency is often a prerequisite.

Cultural Connections and Personal Growth

Learning a different language also helps you meet new people whom you might not encounter otherwise. Thanks to English, I forged many friendships worldwide. While living in the UK, I connected with diverse individuals from various countries, which was an incredibly enriching experience, allowing me to learn from other cultures.

English is also vital for travel, as many countries use it as a common connecting language. If you visit Finland, Greece, Japan, or Germany, you can likely communicate with a significant portion of the population simply by using English.

Ease of Learning for Spanish Speakers

Additionally, for Spanish speakers, English is not a particularly difficult language to learn. Starting with English can also make it easier to learn other languages in the future.
