1. Engine Start Procedure: For starting the engine, the H.P. cock should initially be closed.

19. Reheat and EPR: When reheat is used, Engine Pressure Ratio (EPR) remains constant.

22. Air Bleed and EGT: As air is bled off the engine, Exhaust Gas Temperature (EGT) will increase.

29. Reheat and Mass Gas Flow: When reheat is selected and in operation, the mass gas flow decreases.

38. Air Bleed and EGT (Repeat): As air is bled off the engine, Exhaust Gas Temperature (EGT) will increase.

Engine Components & Types

2. Clamshell Position: Clamshells are positioned 45º to the thrust line.

6. Anti-Icing Air Source: Air for anti-icing is taken from the H.P. compressor.

Essential Internal Combustion Engine Components

Technology3.9 KB

Engine Block

The engine block is the fundamental element where the cylinders are located. It features:

  • Wear resistance in areas of contact with moving parts
  • High mechanical resistance
  • Structural rigidity
  • Ability to quickly dissipate heat

Cylinder Head

The cylinder head's primary function is to tightly seal the top of the cylinder. This seal allows the piston to effectively compress air or an air-fuel mixture within the combustion chamber.

Oil Pan (Sump)

The oil pan, also known as the sump, closes the bottom of the engine block. Its crucial role is to act as a reservoir for engine oil. It is typically manufactured from a lightweight aluminum alloy.

Piston

The piston is located inside the cylinder, moving with a reciprocating motion. It is the element that...

Picture Tube Technology: Black-and-White and Color CRTs

Technology3.88 KB

Picture Tubes in Black and White

This device is responsible for converting luminance information, carried as an electrical signal, into a two-dimensional image on the screen.

Basic Components of a Picture Tube

The blocks that make up a picture tube include:

  • Electron gun: continuously emits a thin beam of electrons that varies according to the scanned image.
  • Deflection coils: permanently deflect the electron beam horizontally and vertically.
  • Luminescent screen: produces light when struck by the electron beam.

Deflection System

To ensure the emitted electrons strike the correct point on the screen, the beam must be moved over the screen surface. There are two ways this process is implemented: electrostatic deflection and magnetic deflection.

Electrostatic...

Aircraft Tubing and Hose Maintenance Standards

Technology3.3 KB

Tubing and Hose Types

Rigid tubing: Stationary, straight runs.
Flexible hose: Used for movement and vibration.

Examples: Fuel, oil, hydraulic, oxygen, and instrument lines.

Tubing vs. Hose Measurement

Tubing: Measured by Outside Diameter (OD).
Hose: Measured by Inside Diameter (ID).

Size units: 1/16 inch increments.

  • #6 = 6/16 = 3/8"
  • #8 = 8/16 = 1/2"

Materials

Aluminum

  • Low/medium pressure
  • ~1000–1500 psi

Steel (CRES)

  • High pressure
  • 3000+ psi

Titanium

  • Stronger and lighter

❌ Never use in oxygen systems due to combustion risk.

Fabricating Tubing

  1. Cut
  2. Deburr
  3. Bend
  4. Flare
  5. Bead

Cutting Procedures

Use a tubing cutter.

  • Tighten lightly
  • Rotate
  • Tighten gradually

❌ Warning: Too tight will deform the tube.

Deburring

Removes internal burrs to:

  • Prevent flow restriction
  • Prevent flare cracking

Use...

Mastering Cloud & Virtualization Technologies

Technology31.74 KB

Understanding Virtualization

Virtualization is the process of creating a virtual (rather than physical) version of something, such as a server, storage device, network resource, or even an operating system. It allows multiple virtual instances to run on a single physical system, increasing efficiency and flexibility by abstracting hardware resources from software environments.

Types of Virtualization Technologies

  • Server Virtualization: Dividing a physical server into multiple virtual servers, each with its own OS and applications. Example: Using hypervisors like VMware ESXi, Microsoft Hyper-V, or KVM.
  • Desktop Virtualization: Enables users to run a desktop environment from a centralized server. Example: Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI), Citrix,

Aircraft EWIS: Essential Components and Maintenance Standards

Technology3.29 KB

Understanding Aircraft EWIS

The Electrical Wiring Interconnection System (EWIS) is vital in modern aircraft. Think of it as an airplane's central nervous system. Just as our bodies need nerves to transmit signals and control functions, an aircraft relies on EWIS for electrical power distribution and the transmission of essential data for safe and efficient operation.

Key EWIS Components

  • Wires: The system's arteries, providing pathways for electricity.
  • Wire Bundles: Groups of wires bound together for protection and organization.
  • Connectors: Components that allow wires to be joined and disconnected.
  • Clamps: Hardware used to secure and fasten wires to prevent movement and damage.
  • Splices: Joints between wire segments used to extend their length.
  • Circuit

Dental Sterilization Protocols and Instrument Management

Technology4.6 KB

Dental Asepsis and Sterilization Protocols

Instrument Classification for Sterilization

  • Semicritical Material: Items that contact the mouth but are not sharp. This material must be sterilized.
  • Non-critical Material: Material that contacts the patient's mouth or skin but does not penetrate tissue (e.g., X-ray goggles). Disinfection is generally sufficient if sterilization is not performed.

Sterilization Methods and Equipment

Pre-Sterilization Cleaning: Ultrasound

Ultrasound cleaning uses movement to detach debris from instruments. Articulated instruments must always be placed open in the ultrasonic bath.

Sterilization Techniques

  • Physical Methods (Autoclave): Uses pressure and heat. Typical programs run at 121°C and 131°C.
  • Chemical Methods: Uses chemical

Mastering CNC Machine Zero Points and Tool Calibration

Technology7.43 KB

Theoretical Concepts of CNC Machining

Understanding the fundamental principles of CNC operation is essential for precision machining and proper equipment handling.

Machine Zero and Part Zero

  • Machine Zero: Set by the manufacturer, this point serves as the absolute origin of the axes.
  • Part Zero (Workpiece Zero): Set by the operator at the origin point of the piece. All movements are programmed from this coordinate. It can be placed anywhere within the machine's workspace.

While an axis moves, the machine or part zero remains constant using codes from G55 to G59. The selection of zero will always be aligned with the Z-axis.

Machine Reference Search

In this operation, the axes are moved to a point defined by the manufacturer, known as the Machine Reference
