1. Purpose and Scope

The purpose of this instruction is to identify the requirements for electrical installations in furniture and related items. The requirements of this instruction apply to:

  • Furniture of all kinds, including office furniture, desks, exhibitors, panels, and similar fixed or mobile items.
  • Furniture, mirrors, and bathroom items in rooms containing a bath or shower.

The receivers used in these facilities must meet the requirements of applicable European Directives, as provided for in Article 6 of the Regulation for Low Voltage Electro. To this effect, any furniture marketed with mounted electrical equipment (e.g., lights, switches, socket bases, etc.) shall be considered a receiver.

ITC-BT-31: Special Purpose Pool Facilities and Bridges

1. Scope

This JTI outlines the requirements for electrical installations in pools, foot baths, and ornamental fountains.

2. Pools and Foot Baths

2.1. Classification of Volumes

Volumes are defined based on protective measures as follows:

  • Zone 0 (IP X8): The area inside containers, including channels on walls or floors, and the interior of foot baths, water injectors, and waterfalls.
  • Zone 1 (IP X5-IP X4): Bounded by Zone 0, a vertical plane 2 m from the edge of the container, or a horizontal plane 2.5 m above the ground or surface.
  • Zone 2 (IP X2-IP X4-IP X5): Bounded by the vertical plane outside Zone 1, a parallel plane 1.5 m from the surface, and a horizontal plane 2.5 m above.

2.2. Installation

Understanding ISDN: Architecture, Features, and Network Structure

Technology2.46 KB

The Integrated Services Digital Network (ISDN)

The Integrated Services Digital Network (ISDN) is an evolved, integrated digital network that provides end-to-end digital connections for a wide range of services, including voice and data.

Key Features

  • End-to-end connectivity
  • Circuit switching at 64 kbit/s
  • Separate paths for signaling and data transfer

General Structure of ISDN

The ISDN architecture consists of access and transit networks, primarily composed of digital switching centers connected by digital transmission systems.

  • Digital Switching Stations: Perform circuit-switched connections at 64 kbit/s.
  • Digital Transmission Systems: Facilitate data flow across the network.
  • User Access: The primary differentiator between RDI and ISDN, allowing digital

Building Hydraulic Systems: Water Supply & Fixtures

Technology3.4 KB

Understanding Building Hydraulic Systems

Hydraulic installations comprise a system of pipes (suction, discharge, and distribution), reservoirs, tanks, control valves, pumps, and hot water generators. These are essential for providing continuous hot and cold water to fixtures and other sanitary services within a building.

Purpose of Hydraulic Systems

The primary goal of hydraulic installations is to supply all required architectural spaces with adequate water and pressure, through appropriate sanitary fixtures, ensuring optimal functionality and service.

Water Distribution Pipes

Distribution pipes are branches that supply water to each level, zone, and fixture within a building. These can include horizontal distribution mains, as well as specific...

Electronic Display Technologies: A Comprehensive Overview

Technology3.25 KB

Electronic Display Technologies

1. Seven-Segment Display

Comprised of seven LEDs arranged to produce the idealized representation of a number. An optional eighth LED can serve as a decimal point. The number of management-control signals for each display is N = segments + DP. In multiplexed mode, the number of necessary control signals is N = segments + DP + viewers.

Variants

Alphanumeric seven-segment displays add extra segments to represent alphanumeric characters. These have largely been replaced by LED matrix displays.

2. LED Matrix Display

An array of LEDs that can generate characters, symbols, and pictures. The number of control signals required for each display is N = rows + columns.

3. Vacuum Fluorescent Display (VFD)

Composed of filaments,...

Optimizing Pump Suction and Discharge Piping

Technology1.97 KB

Carac. Line Negative Suction

The suction pipe must be designed to ensure smooth pump functioning. It should be straight, tight, and as short as possible to prevent air entry. Avoid sudden widening or narrowing; use eccentric cones with the wider end horizontal. Avoid elbows in planes adjacent to other elbows.

When selecting the proper pipe diameter, consider head losses and maximum speed. Use tables to calculate the most suitable pipes for operating conditions.

Always mount the suction pipe in an upward position towards the pump to prevent air accumulation, which can reduce capacity and cause pump issues. Horizontal sections should have a slope of at least 2% and a sufficient straight length to stabilize liquid flow.

A foot valve should be mounted...

Transformer Components: Bushings, Expansion Tank, Probes, Buchholz Relay

Technology4.65 KB

Transformer Bushings (Medium and Low Voltage)

Bushings (medium and low voltage): Bushings are insulators installed in the cover (lid) of the transformer that allow the inner conductors to be connected to the external terminals and windings. They are typically porcelain and glazed brown on the outside. Medium-voltage (MV) bushings are larger than low-voltage (LV) bushings.

Expansion Tank and Oil Level

Expansion Tank: The expansion tank is a reservoir located above the transformer tank (cuba) and connected to it by a pipe. It is partially filled to a controlled level so that, when the oil heats and expands, the excess oil flows into the expansion tank. The expansion tank is usually located on the right side of the main tank (when viewed from the...

Precision Dental Casting: Sprue and Venting Techniques

Technology2.86 KB

Fountains, Sprues, and Jitos in Dental Casting

Fountains (sprues) or jitos allow communication between the wax pattern and the crucible. They provide the path that moves the molten metal to fill the void left by the lost wax after it is burned inside the investment coating. There are three basic requirements:

  1. The sprue should allow the molten wax to escape the mold.
  2. It should allow the molten metal to flow inside the mold with minimum turbulence.
  3. The metal should continue to stay molten for a time slightly longer than the alloy that has filled the mold.

Sprues (drinkers) can be metallic, wax, or plastic. The attachment point (lid) can be placed on the most voluminous part of the wax pattern, separated from the margins. Normally, these are the largest...

Cable Testing and Maintenance: Ensuring Network Reliability

Technology2.48 KB

Cable Testing Phase Continuity and Order

Checking Cable Continuity

To ensure cable continuity, form a loop bridging two phases at one end. Connect the other end to an isolation and tension meter. Test the continuity of the three possible loops, including one to neutral.

A high impedance reading indicates a discontinuity in the cable.

Verifying Phase Identification

To identify phases, ground one phase at one end of the wire. At the other end, connect an isolation meter between each conductor and ground, applying 500V successively. The lowest of the four measurements corresponds to the same conductor on both ends.

Dielectric Strength Test: Low Voltage Cable Insulation

The risk of damaging a new cable depends on the discharge time constant. Never discharge...
