Travel Mishaps and Wonders: Cazorla, Beach Getaway, and Paris Charm

English2.16 KB

Disastrous Vacation

Last winter, my family and I drove to Cazorla. As we were arriving, it began to snow. The car stopped because there was so much snow, so we called a tow truck and arrived at the hotel. Two days later, it was sunny, and we went hiking. Later, we lost our way, but another family helped us. When we got back to the hotel, the dining room was closed, and we had to go to a restaurant. The next day, we tried to leave for Cordoba, but the car wouldn't start. We called the tow truck again and finally arrived in Cordoba.

The Best Holiday

Last holiday, I went to the beach. After checking in, the first thing I did was get a massage at the hotel spa. Then, I took a shower and went to the beach. I was resting on the sand when I suddenly...

Travel, Family, and Friendship Stories

My Trip to Chicago

In October 2012, I went to Chicago, also known as the Windy City. It’s the biggest city that I have visited, where three million people live.

Chicago City Center Attractions

The center of Chicago offers a lot of amazing skyscrapers, including one that is very well known because it is the tallest building. In this part of Chicago, you can also see ancient museums, like the Museum of Contemporary Art or the Museum of History. A lot of parks are located here, where there is the fascinating monument because it looks like a big bean.

This Boy's Life: Tobias Wolff's Journey of Identity

English2.13 KB

Tobias Wolff's This Boy's Life: A Memoir

This Boy's Life is a memoir by Tobias Wolff detailing his childhood and teenage years during the 1950s. The book opens with a harrowing image: Tobias and his mother are driving down a mountain in Utah when their brakes fail, and they witness a truck plummet off a cliff. They survive, and instead of pausing to process the trauma, they continue driving. This moment sets the tone for the entire narrative: significant, traumatic events occur, and the characters simply absorb them and move on, as their circumstances leave little room for anything else.

The Search for Stability

After his parents' divorce, young Tobias—who renames himself "Jack"—moves across the country with his mother, Rosemary, as she searches...

The Challenges of Language Learning and Globalization

In Your Opinion, What Is the Most Difficult Language to Learn? Explain Your View.

I think it depends on what your mother tongue is. For example, Chinese is difficult to Spanish people because vocabulary and pronunciation are completely different.

Is It Good to Adopt English Words or Is It Better to Preserve or Find Equivalents in Your Own Language?

In my opinion, it is better to preserve or find equivalents in our own language when it is possible. Only if it does not exist equivalent in our language it could be good to adapt English words.

Should We All Speak the Same Language? Which One? Is This Possible and Would This Make the World a Better Place?

No, we shouldn't. I don't think that it would be possible. And if that were possible, the world...

Architectural Splendor: Describing an 18th-Century Palace Interior

The scene depicts a magnificent, enclosed space, defined by four imposing walls and a soaring roof—likely the central hall of a grand palace. The focal point is an immense, high staircase that dramatically splits into two separate paths.
