The book I have read is called The Great Gatsby and its author is Francis Scott Fitzgerald. The Great Gatsby is set in New York City, representing a very social environment. The most important characters are Jay Gatsby, Nick Carraway, Jordan Baker, and Tom Buchanan. The most interesting thing about this book is how Gatsby pretended for a long time that he was a millionaire.

Nick Carraway moves to a bungalow in West Egg, a Long Island neighborhood, to study the bond business in New York. Nick is invited by Daisy, his cousin, to come to his house in East Egg, an aristocratic neighborhood on Long Island. Tom Buchanan, Daisy's husband, whom he has met at Yale. Gatsby tells her that Gatsby is in love with Daisy. He met her in Louisville in 1917 and they planned to get married, but he was sent to fight in the war and ended up marrying Tom. What he needs from Nick is that he invites them both to his bungalow. Nick agrees and organizes tea at his house. This book reflects the life of millionaires in the twenties. One of the biggest conflicts in the rumors about Gatsby and the fake life he is leading. The most important character is Jay Gatsby, he is a mysterious and extremely rich young man who organizes huge parties every Saturday at his West Egg mansion. Rumors circulate at parties about who he is and where he comes from. Later in the novel we learn that his real name is James Gatz, and that he comes from a poor family in North Dakota. He then changes his name to Gatsby.

Gatsby enlists in the army and falls in love with Daisy Fay, but must go fight in World War I. He learns all about aristocratic life because he works for Dan Cody, a millionaire who teaches him the ways of rich people, thus building the character of Gatsby. Nick Carraway is the novel's narrator. He comes from a wealthy Minnesota family. After fighting in World War I, he travels to New York to learn about the bond business. He lives in a bungalow in West Egg, next door to Gatsby's mansion. He is Daisy's cousin and is in a romantic relationship with Jordan Baker. Daisy Buchanan is Daisy is a friend of Jordan Baker, wife of Tom Buchanan, and the love of Gatsby's life. She is born into an aristocratic and wealthy family. There she meets Jordan Baker and Gatsby, when he is a soldier. They have a love story that is interrupted when he has to travel to war. She promised to wait for him but she married Tom Buchanan, a young millionaire. She is an elegant, cynical and fantasizing woman. Tom Buchanan, Tom is Daisy's husband and Myrtle's lover. He is a very strong and brutish man, a former football player for Yale University. He also comes from a rich family. He is a racist and macho man who treats his wife and her lover with violence. Jordan Baker is a friend of Daisy's since her childhood in Louisville. He is a professional golfer and a very dishonest person. She is very cynical and cold. She is in a loving relationship with Nick Carraway.

The book ended with the death of George Wilson and Gatsby because of Tom Ja who pushes Gatsby to the wolves for a discussion.

Personally, this book is very interesting and mysterious. I liked it a lot because you always had to solve mysteries. This book may be liked by people who like to read problem-solving and mystery books.
