Maximizing Sales Through Strategic Marketing

If all the above principles are met, advertising will achieve its primary objective: the sale.

Sales Promotion

Sales promotion consists of business activities designed to increase product sales over a short period. Examples include offering a small gift with a purchase or a two-for-one deal.

Personal Selling

The sales staff aims to inform, persuade, and convince the customer to buy the product through direct contact. Unlike advertising, personal selling requires an individualized oral message and allows for an immediate response.

Public Relations

Public relations involves planned activities to create, promote, and maintain a positive corporate image. Instruments to improve this image include collaborating with charities or funding concerts.

Integrated Marketing Policies

It is essential that all marketing elements are perfectly coordinated. For example, if a promotion or price decrease is implemented, distribution must ensure the product is available at the point of sale with the correct packaging, features, and pricing.

Merchandising

Merchandising is defined as the set of resources that help sell the product at the point of sale. As supermarkets become more widespread, the role of the salesperson becomes secondary, meaning the product must sell itself. Brand and product presentation are critical, but other factors can encourage impulse purchases:

  • Using Posters: Posters of various shapes and sizes inform customers about product location. The most effective placement is at eye level or slightly below to maximize visibility.
  • Product Quantity: While a small quantity can suggest scarcity and drive demand, it can also backfire with perishable goods, where consumers may perceive low stock as a sign of poor quality.
  • Product Presentation: If products are presented in an overly orderly fashion, customers may hesitate to take them for fear of disrupting the display. Allowing for a slightly accessible arrangement can create a sense of value and encourage interaction.
