Essential AC Circuit Terminology and Definitions

Physics2.58 KB

Definitions AC. The changing of direction.
CURRENT. The meaning does not change, but may change in value. CURRENT PERIODIC. That which is repeated in cycles with the same period. PERIOD. Time it takes one cycle. CYCLE. Set starting values such that at any one walking back to the all the values of the signal. FREQUENCY. Number of cycles a second. The unit hertz. Resonance frequency is that frequency that makes a circuit is resistive (the circuit contains inductors and capacitors). Or half-power frequency cut-off frequency filter. That often happens in these situations simultaneously: the power half the maximum, the load voltage is 70% of the maximum, the phase angle is 45 degrees. BANDWIDTH. Difference between the cutoff frequencies. OR QUALITY

Rotary Paddle Fixed-Point Detectors

A rotary engine turns paddles through a spring. This rotation is continuous as long as the material does not come into contact with the blades. If these shovels stop but the engine keeps turning, the spring expands until it hits a limit switch that stops the engine and provides an external electrical contact. When the level is low, the spring returns to its position, the motor starts again, and the switch output changes its position. The pallet can be flexible or rigid to adapt to different working conditions.

Electromechanical Continuous Level Meters

This system uses a small mobile weight supported by a cable from the top of the silo via pulleys. A programmer and motor set a duty cycle for the weight. This...

Types of Motion

Uniform Rectilinear Motion (MRU)

The MRU definition is that the velocity vector remains constant. That is, the speed is constant in magnitude and direction.

Uniformly Accelerated Rectilinear Motion (MRUA)

The MRUA is motion where a body travels on a straight line maintaining a constant acceleration.

Uniform Circular Motion (UCM)

Uniform Circular Motion (UCM) is one in which a mobile describes a circle with constant angular velocity.

Uniformly Accelerated Circular Motion (UCMA)

Uniformly Accelerated Circular Motion (UCMA) is one in which the mobile moves in a circle with constant angular acceleration.

Fundamental Principles of Dynamics

Newton's Laws of Motion

First Law (Law of Inertia)

A body remains in its state of rest or Uniform Circular...

Concepts and Electromagnetic Phenomena

Magnetic Field Definition

Magnetic Field: The area which shows the effects of magnetic poles is said to have a magnetic field. A magnetic field is represented by lines of force.

Magnetism: Lines of force of a magnetic field created by a permanent magnet.

Magnets

  • Magnets attract or repel each other, similar to electric charges.

Magnetic Magnitudes

Magnetic Flux Density (B): The number of magnetic field lines that cross the unit area (m2).

  • Magnetic Flux (Φ)
  • Magnetic Field Strength (H)

Electromagnetism

Electromagnetism involves the creation of a magnetic field through an electric current, or the creation of an electrical current in the presence of a magnetic field.

Biot-Savart Law

An electrical charge (q), which moves...

Capacitive Level Meters

Electric Meters radiation level 2: Capacitive meters measurement is based on the variation of capacitance, which changes when the dielectric medium between its plates varies. Capacitance is influenced by three primary factors:

  • 1. Distance between electrode plates.
  • 2. Size of the electrode plates.
  • 3. Dielectric value of the material between the electrodes.

The capacitance change makes the oscillator operate at a level proportional to the measurement.

Vibrating Level Switches

Vibrating level switches are polled as a tuning fork vibrating via a piezo-driven 80Hz signal. If the substance covers the pitch, the signal is damped, which produces a signal that activates a relay. It is used for both liquids and solids of small particle...

Optical, Thermal, and Biocompatibility Properties of Dental Materials

Optical and Thermal Properties

1. Optical Properties

The human eye is sensitive to wavelengths ranging from approximately 400 nm (violet) to 700 nm (deep red). For an object to be visible, it must either emit light or reflect light incident from an external source.

In teeth, polychromatic light is a mixture of several wavelengths. Consequently, the perceived color of an object can vary significantly under different light sources; this phenomenon is known as metamerism. Therefore, color selection must be performed under two or more different light sources, one of which should be daylight.

Fluorescence is the ability of certain objects to change the wavelength of incident light, transforming invisible radiation into visible light, which provides...

Automotive Dynamo and Alternator: Function & Components

Physics3.23 KB

Purpose and Function of an Automotive Dynamo

The dynamo's mission is to transform mechanical energy received at its axis into electrical energy collected at its terminals. It acts as a power supply circuit for vehicle loads, using this power to charge the battery, where it is stored for later use to provide services in automotive applications and, in turn, feeding various circuits and accessories installed in the vehicle.

Components of a Dynamo

  • Stator (Inducer Group)

This group consists of the casing, the pole pieces (or polar bodies), and coils. Its aim is to create the stator magnetic field within which the induced coil moves. The casing is made of steel, through which the magnetic circuit closes. The pole pieces are inside the casing and attached

Swing Circuits and Electromagnetic Waves

To produce damped oscillations, circuits must be complex: Formula and Formula . Electromagnetic waves are composed of an electric field and a magnetic field (also known as Hertzian waves).

Wavelength and Dipole Antennas

Wavelength is the distance a wave travels during one complete cycle, calculated as λ = c / f. A dipole is a half-wavelength antenna consisting of two symmetrical conductors. In a half-wave dipole, the length between its ends coincides with half the wavelength of the target frequency.

Radiation Resistance and Polarization

Radiation resistance is the resistance of the dipole at resonance, typically 75Ω. The polarization radiation diagram defines the direction of the electric field of the electromagnetic...

Vacuum Transducers and Pressure Control Mechanisms

Vacuum and Pressure Measurement Devices

Cold Cathode Ionization Transducer

The cold cathode transducer is based on the principle of measuring the ion current produced by a high-voltage discharge. Electrons detached from the cathode take a spiraling motion as they move through a magnetic field on their way to the anode. This spiraling motion ensures that the mean free path of the electrons is greater than the distance between the electrodes.

This extended path increases the possibility of collisions with residual gas molecules, leading to increased ion current. Consequently, the cathode discharge is maintained at a lower pressure, indicating a higher vacuum level. While this instrument cannot degas as quickly as a hot filament gauge, it is significantly...
