Hand, Wrist and Arm Anatomy: Bones, Joints and Muscles

Sport and physical education4.36 KB

Wrist and Hand Anatomy

Wrist: The carpus consists of 8 bones divided into 2 rows. The first row includes the scaphoid, lunate, triquetrum and pisiform. The second row includes the trapezium, trapezoid, capitate and hamate.

Hand: The hand uses 2 types of bones: the metacarpals and the phalanges.

  • Metacarpals: Long bones with a curved shape, numbered 1 to 5 from the thumb side to the little finger side.
  • Phalanges: Long bones. There are 3 in each finger, except the thumb, which has 2 (proximal and distal).

Joints

Radiocarpal joint: The principal joint of the wrist is the radiocarpal joint, a monocondylar joint formed between the radius and the first row of carpal bones. It allows flexion (about 85–90°), extension, abduction (about 15°) and adduction

Physical Conditioning and Training Principles Explained

Sport and physical education2.69 KB

Core Physical Capacities

  • Force: The maximum degree of muscular tension applied in a single muscle contraction.
  • Resistance: The ability to delay the onset of fatigue and withstand physical exertion for as long as possible.
  • Speed: The body's ability to perform successive movements as quickly as possible.
  • Flexibility: The degree of movement within a joint or group of joints.

Training Methodology

Health is more than the absence of disease; it involves healthy living and consistent training habits. Successful training depends on two related concepts:

  • Volume: The quantitative aspect (number of repetitions, time, distance).
  • Intensity: The qualitative aspect (speed, effort).

The training load is defined by the formula: Load = Intensity / Volume. Without both...

Stretching and Strength Training Techniques for Optimal Performance

Sport and physical education3.69 KB

Stretching Techniques

Dynamic Stretching

Dynamic stretching is a training method widely used in gyms, utilizing springs. No plates are used; the objective is to improve physical condition by increasing the range of motion.

Ballistic Stretching

Ballistic stretching uses methods similar to dynamic stretching but involves more exaggerated muscle movement. It also produces the normal myotatic reflex and must be monitored carefully as it carries a higher risk of muscle injury.

Benefits of Dynamic & Ballistic Stretching

  • More motivating and less boring than static stretching.
  • Develops dynamic flexibility.

Disadvantages of Dynamic & Ballistic Stretching

  • Tissue adaptation is momentary.
  • Increases the risk of injuries.
  • Triggers the stretch reflex.

Passive

Fisika Training: Strength, Endurance and Flexibility Principles

Sport and physical education5.47 KB

Fisika Training Principles

The ability to perform daily tasks and to carry out physical activity efficiently depends on a solid base of physical conditioning, which minimizes energy cost and wear on the body.

Capacity Building

Building capacity for physical tasks requires a preparation process that improves basic physical qualities and adapts the body to the specific demands of each activity. These adaptations allow the body to maintain balance before the demands placed on it.

Training Principles

  • Continuity: training must be carried out in a continuous and consistent manner to maintain a correct balance between activity and rest.
  • Multilaterality: training should include all aspects needed to prepare the athlete for the work they will perform.
  • Specificity:

Key Considerations for Session Development

  • Time Allocation: Distribute time based on the importance of each segment relative to the total session content.
  • Maximize Practice: Prioritize active practice time while minimizing long lectures or waiting in lines.
  • Evaluation Focus: Dedicate priority attention to activities that will be subject to future assessment.
  • Progressive Difficulty: Syndicate work content in order of increasing complexity.
  • Review: Begin sessions by reviewing concepts from the previous meeting.
  • Practical Application: Promote content that workers can clearly apply to real-world activities.
  • Physical Demands: Rationally distribute physical demands by alternating strenuous exercises with leisurely ones.
  • Organizational Consistency: Use varied

Understanding Health and Disease Concepts

Sport and physical education3.09 KB

Core Concepts of Health

Defining health is complex and involves considering two primary aspects:

  • Subjective health: This does not always correspond with reality (how I feel).
  • Objective health: The aspect that influences the body's ability to function (how my body actually is).

Until the mid-twentieth century, health was defined in various ways. One common definition was: "Health is the absence of disease and invalidity." However, this definition was not valid because it is not always possible to establish a clear boundary between health and disease. It does not allow for intermediate situations, implying that the absence of disease always results in great health.

The World Health Organization (WHO, 1948) defined it as: "Health is a state of complete
