El sistema urbano español: tamaño, jerarquía y funciones

Geology3.8 KB

Nutrition in Living Organisms: Autotrophs, Digestion and Circulation

Geology16.88 KB

T.9: Nutrition

Every living organism must exchange matter and energy with its environment, and its nutritional mode determines how it does so.

Types of nutrition

Autotrophs: These organisms use inorganic matter from the environment (water, carbon dioxide and mineral salts) to produce their own organic matter.

  • Photosynthetic: obtain energy from light (algae, plants).
  • Chemosynthetic: obtain energy from the oxidation of inorganic compounds (some bacteria).

Heterotrophs: These organisms depend on the organic compounds they obtain from other organisms, which they break down to obtain energy. Examples include animals, fungi and most bacteria.

Stages of the nutritional process

  • Ingestion: Animals incorporate organic matter and extract the nutrients they need,

Truth, Knowledge, and the Limits of Certainty

Geology2.4 KB

Since ancient times, ontological theorists and logicians have asked what truth is. Does it exist independently of us? Is it a conformity between thought and reality, or something that humans construct? Instead of seeking a single, perfect definition of truth, the problem of knowledge is, in large part, an enigmatic one. Its limitations lie in the attempt to know and master multiple complex phenomena.

This leads to the central question: Can we really know the truth, or is the truth something we can only approximate? These two questions are closely related. The meaning of truth has been debated for centuries, and most theorists and theories about truth remain very much in doubt, as if there were no agreement on what truth is.

Truth in Philosophy,

Understanding Medical Treatments: Types and Risks

Geology3.56 KB

Distinguishing Medical Treatments

What is the Difference Between Palative, Preventive, and Healing Treatment?

Palative Treatment

Palative treatment seeks to alleviate or treat the maximum discomfort to reach a state of well-being, but it cannot cure the underlying condition.

Preventive Treatment

Preventive treatment serves to prevent the appearance of an illness or infirmity.

Healing Treatment

Healing treatment aims to cure an already existing infirmity.

What Types of Treatments Are Available?

We have:

  • Scientific medicines
  • Transplants
  • Alternative medicines

Risks Associated with Organ Transplants

Transplantation carries several risks:

  1. Organ Production: There is a risk of losing the organ during recovery or if the blood flow to the recipient is compromised,

Origins, Phonetic Evolution, and Dialects of Spanish

Geology3.74 KB

Origins and Evolution of Castilian Spanish

Castilian is a Romance language derived from Vulgar Latin, enriched by other Iberian dialects and their initial indigenous idioms, introducing innovative trends that distinguished it from other languages of the Iberian Peninsula.

The origins of Spanish in the Americas emerged in Bardulia when Castile was independent. The Leons extended its limits, and the Basque and Aragonese influences grew as the Reconquista advanced toward the center and south. Although there are no documents up to the 11th century, primitive romance poetry and 13th-century prose existed.

With the help of Alfonso X, Castilian became the official documentary language of the royal court, which contributed to:

  • Linguistic leveling
  • Spelling

Geology5.74 KB

Benito Pérez Galdós was born in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and later settled in Madrid, where he devoted himself to writing.
