Almoravid Mosques: Architectural Insights

The Almoravid dynasty left a significant architectural legacy, particularly in their mosques. Let's explore some key features and examples.

Great Mosque of Algiers

The restoration of this mosque revealed exceptional decorative elements. It presents a unique layout with aisles parallel to the qibla wall, mirroring the Great Mosque of Damascus. Pillars support arches, evolving into cruciform pillars for reinforcement. The axial nave is divided into areas covered by various dome models. Interestingly, the mosque still retains the location of a 9th-century minaret.

In the courtyard, sober horseshoe arches and arch panels are visible. Some elements reflect later Merinid remodeling, while others, like the courtyard

Essential Pastry Ingredients and Techniques

Geology2.8 KB

Pastry Ingredients and Applications

Plaston

50% flour and slack-water.

CRMA

A mixture of fat, cream, and sugar (blanching, luster, cocoa paste). Used to reduce bitterness in chocolate coatings for confectionery.

Mother Dough

Raw dough from previous bread rolls, stored in refrigerated cameras or protected from air. It provides elastic function to the dough, favors fermentation homogeneity, and improves the cooked flavor and conservation of the final product. Ultimately, it is a fermented dough that promotes lactic acid production.

Improver

A conglomerate used to improve the process during kneading, extending the shelf life of formed parts and providing better conservation. It is commercialized as a block, powder, or fat.

Pâte à Bombe

Emulsified in a...

Dental Infections: Plaque, Gingivitis, Periodontitis and Caries

Geology3.59 KB

Odontogenic Infections

Bacterial plaque is a biofilm of bacteria, including various layers of streptococci and Gram-positive lactobacilli. Food residues that remain on the teeth and in the mucous membranes form soft deposits that can be removed initially by rinsing. However, in the first stages, bacteria attach to the teeth and affect their surface, and can only be removed by mechanical means such as brushing and the use of dental floss.

Bacterial plaque is classified into two types:

  • Supragingival plaque: formed by layers of bacteria located above the gingival margin, and rarely visible.
  • Subgingival plaque: when there are many layers of bacteria, it spreads below the gingival margin, penetrating beneath the gum and surrounding the root of the tooth,

Spanish Constitutional History: Cádiz 1812 and 1978

Cortes and the Constitution of Cádiz of 1812

The Formation Process

From the start of the war, local and provincial juntas sent representatives of the resistance to form the Junta Suprema Central in order to coordinate military actions. The Junta gathered in Aranjuez, recognized Fernando VII as the legitimate King of Spain, and assumed his authority. Later, the Junta fled from Seville to Cádiz. The Central Junta was unable to conduct the war effectively and decided to convene the first Cortes. Later, it was dissolved, maintaining a Regency Council formed by five members.

The election of deputies was difficult to carry out, leading to the selection of substitutes. The liberal sector succeeded in forcing the formation of a single unicameral chamber...

Key Concepts of Earth's Climate and Atmospheric Events

Climate: Concepts and Parameters

Climatology is the science that deals with climate studies. Climate is a set of meteorological phenomena that characterize the situation and weather in a particular place on Earth. The climate is the result of a series of interactions between latitude, altitude, continentality, and prevailing wind patterns.

Precipitation

Precipitation is water falling on the Earth's surface in liquid or solid form. For precipitation to occur, clouds must first be formed. This happens in three different ways:

  • Convective Precipitation: Caused by rising warm air.
  • Orographic Precipitation: Occurs when moist air is forced to rise over mountains.
  • Frontal Precipitation: Results from the interaction of different air masses along a front.

Western Peninsula Geology: Granite, Limestone and Shale Landscapes

Geology3.35 KB

Siliceous Area

Area silícea: Ancient and primary rocks located in the western part of the peninsula. This area shows little branching to the west. The predominant rock is granite.

Types and processes: In some cases the granite is chemically altered at depth by water. In other cases the granite is altered along fractures that are perpendicular to the strata, forming boulders and blocky accumulations (berrocal) that pile up. When these blocks become unstable and are displaced, they produce areas of granitic chaos.

Limestone Area

Limestone Area: Rocks of secondary origin, located in a Z-shaped, inverted zone of the peninsula. The predominant rock is limestone. Karst processes generate characteristic relief forms:

  • Sinkholes: Depressions or hollows
