From Neruda's Postman to Real-Life Crime and Dream Homes
Literary Reflections and True Crime Accounts
Book Review: The Postman (Neruda)
One of the last books I read is called The Postman (Neruda). It is about a young man named Paul who decides to look for a job. He is offered a position as a postman, but his route requires him to travel far to deliver mail to a single person: a very famous writer. Paul cycles long distances, carrying heavy loads of letters from fans.
Paul becomes friends with the writer. One day, the writer teaches Pablo how to use metaphors to woo the girl he likes, and Pablo succeeds. At the end of the book, the postman dies.
A Notorious Crime Incident
One of the crimes that has most caught my attention happened recently in the South. A man entered a shop. Due to circumstances I don't recall, he decapitated the victim with a knife, took the head, and walked with it along the entire Walk of the Christians.
The assassin was captured by a young man, and the news was very alarming. The assassin was condemned to life imprisonment.

Email to Alicia: My Favorite Hobbies and Free Time Activities
Dear Alicia,
You asked me what I do in my free time. The truth is, I love playing sports and spending time with my friends and family.
My favorite activities include:
- Swimming: I go to the city pool on Tuesdays and Thursdays. I have been practicing swimming for four years, and it is my favorite sport.
- Baking: I enjoy reading magazines about desserts and then trying to bake them.
- Shopping: I occasionally go shopping, though very rarely.
I used to like playing volleyball, but it required taking the bus.
What do you like to do in your free time? I look forward to your response.
Kisses,
Elisabet
Email to Angela: Dreaming of a Safe, Exotic Home
Dear Angela,
I have always dreamed of living somewhere different, a place where danger doesn't exist. I would love to live in the jungle, in a wooden treehouse.
My dream location features:
- A large lake with a huge waterfall.
- Many exotic animals.
- A life free from worry.
I adore nature, but I know I will probably never get to live in this unique place I dream of.
Where would you like to live? What is the place of your dreams? I await your response.
Kisses,
Elisabet
