Realistic Catalan Romance Novel: Structure and Style

English3.07 KB

Form: External Structure

The work is realistic in regard to the characters. Each character in the work is portrayed in the best and most suitable way for them. External structure: The text is divided into three parts. Each part has its chapters. The story is followed throughout the three parts and the theme does not change; the story simply evolves. No sequences or slogans are present.

Form: Internal Structure

Internal structure: The pace is slow because events unfold very gradually. The author describes many places throughout the novel, which contributes to the slow tempo. Maruja, who is gravely ill, will only live for two more months or so, yet the narrative often feels as if it lasts much longer. It is also a middle section in that the work...

Reflections on Relationships and Dream Summer Vacations

Finding an Ideal Partner

Finding an ideal partner is difficult because everyone has pros and cons. However, you can find a person quite similar to you who shares your life. My boyfriend is handsome. He is tall and thin, and he has beautiful short, curly black hair. He is physically ideal for me because I do not like blond guys. On the one hand, I like blue eyes, but on the other hand, I prefer his eyes exactly as they are.

I would change some things in him; for instance, a habit that annoys and saddens me is the fact that he smokes, which is not healthy for him. That gets on my nerves,...

My Experience with Speed Flatmating in Spain

Dear Sergio, How are you? I'm happy. I hope you're well. Thanks for your last email. This time I'm writing to tell you about my experience. I had never heard of "speed flatmating" before, but it seems like a great idea. I like the people there very much. Actually, I'm living in a new apartment in Spain. It's a very comfortable and welcoming place.

Life with My New International Flatmates

One of my flatmates, Mafer, is originally from England. She's a good laugh and she's a people person. We always practice English together. My other flatmate is Liam; he comes from Brazil. He's great fun, but he's very messy. Every night we get together to talk, watch movies, or go out to parties. I haven't had problems...
