Each dramatic part is divided into a play structure:
The Three Acts
- Act 1: The approach and presentation of the characters; it explains the conflict.
- Act 2: The knot; where the action develops and the conflict reaches its peak.
- Act 3: The outcome and resolution of the conflict.
Scenes and Stage Directions
A scene is each part of an act involving the characters and their entry or exit. Stage directions (acotacions) are author notes, usually at the beginning of each event, where the author gives instructions about the disposition of the scenic space and the attitude or actions of the characters.
Tirant lo Blanc by Joanot Martorell
Tirant lo Blanc is the most important work by the Valencian writer Joanot Martorell. It is considered the best Catalan novel of all time, published in 1490 and reprinted in Barcelona. It has been translated into many languages.
Plot and Adventures
The novel starts with the adventures of the knight William of Varoic (Guillem de Varoic), who travels to England to participate in a tournament. The story follows trips to France, Sicily, and the Turkish Empire to liberate Rhodes from the Turks. After being captured in a shipwreck, Tirant evangelizes parts of Africa. He eventually marries Carmesina, but shortly after the marriage, Tirant dies of sickness, and Carmesina dies of pain and grief.
Valencian Grammar: Apostrophe Rules
Regarding apostrophization, do not use an apostrophe in the following cases:
- Before the letters i or u when they are unstressed.
- Before the names of letters.
- If it causes confusion or abnormality.
Analogy and Argumentative Structure
In an analogy argument, the structure may resemble a children's story where parents spend more time with their children. Data shows the number of arguments that arise when problems affect children in Spain. An argument of authority denounces situations using reports by university professors, demonstrating that the role of the parent is irreplaceable and that children must feel appreciated.
