Technological Process
The technological process consists of the following stages:
- Identify the problem or necessity.
- Search for information and brainstorm ideas.
- Choose the solution: Create a solution plan and design, including plans and other documents.
- Build prototypes.
- Evaluate the process and outcome: Once the correct processes are established, production and marketing can begin.
The Technical Project
The technical project corresponds to the third stage of the technological process. It is the set of technical documents that define the product and how to build it:
- Technical Report
- Plans
- Budget
- Statement of Requirements: Must be clear, understandable, and use standard technical language.
The Technical Report
This written document includes multiple sections. It should start by briefly describing the motivations and objectives of the project. It may also include a technical description of the product or installation, a bill of materials, and a technical manual. Annexes are documents that are part of the technical features.
Plans
Plans graphically describe the object or installation to be built. While there is no rule regarding the number of plans required, they should follow these standards:
- Drawn to a normalized scale.
- Correctly dimensioned.
- Graphic symbols correctly identified.
- Plans can be made by hand with tracing paper or via computer.
The Economic Budget
This document contains financial information regarding the project, usually organized by items or concepts. It must be as accurate as possible, include a profit margin, and have a deadline of validity.
Specifications
The specification is the document containing the conditions agreed upon between the client and the technical office developing the project:
- Technical specifications: Details regarding the production phase.
- Economic specifications: Details regarding payment terms and forms.
- Legal terms: A summary of the regulations to comply with the installation.
The Technical Office
The technical office is the area of a company responsible for the completion of the project and controlling the entire process from beginning to end. Its basic functions are:
- Designing and elaborating plans.
- Creating the best possible estimate.
- Establishing cost-effective manufacturing methods.
- Planning the process.
- Determining appropriate controls to ensure correct elaboration and quality.
