Goods and services satisfy specific needs. The set of activities used to determine necessary resources and transform inputs into goods or services is called the production process.
In the production process, resources—such as factory equipment and raw materials—are utilized to create finished goods and services. To successfully obtain these, it is essential that resource inputs and operations are coordinated. The organizations responsible for this activity are companies, such as industries and banks.
Industrial Companies and Manufacturing
An industrial company, or industry, is dedicated to manufacturing. Industries are responsible for transforming raw materials into goods that satisfy our needs. The production process can be considered a technological process, categorized into the primary sector or the secondary (industrial) sector.
Goods vs. Services
- Goods: Tangible items that can be returned or exchanged.
- Services: Intangible offerings that cannot be returned, such as transportation, communications, and specific supplies.
Welding Techniques
There are two main types of welding:
- Fusion Welding: Pieces are joined by applying heat until the zones to be connected reach a liquid or pasty state.
- Pressure Welding: Pieces are heated until they reach a pasty state, and then pressure is applied until the parts are joined.
Common tools and methods include electric welders, gas blowers, electric arc welding, welding torches, and spot welding.
Automotive Assembly Steps
- Presses: Sheet steel is cut and deformed cold through a procedure called embossing. The sheet is placed over a mold and pressed multiple times to achieve the final form. Each car body part requires a specific line of presses.
- Bodywork (Xapatge): All body parts are joined together, typically using robots.
- Painting: The bodywork is painted. First, all grease is removed by immersing the parts in solvents. Robots perform the painting, and drying occurs in booths at temperatures approaching 200 degrees.
- Assembly: In this stage, the remaining elements are added to the chassis:
- Installation of moldings.
- Removal of body gates to facilitate robot access.
- Installation of windows by robots.
- Engine placement.
- Wheel assembly.
- Seat positioning.
