Tally's Transformation: A Journey to the City of Perfection

Part 1: The Escape

Tally's Desire

Fifteen-year-old Tally yearned to turn sixteen and join her friend, Peris, in the City of Perfection. Missing him dearly, she decided to visit the city. She escaped via the river, hiding in the bushes to avoid detection by the Perfects. On her way to the city, she encountered a band playing music, amidst parties and a mask-making machine. Tally grabbed a mask to remain unnoticed.

Reunion with Peris

Upon reuniting with Peris, he advised her against returning to the city. He revealed that it wasn't as perfect as it seemed and urged her not to come back for his sake or cause trouble. Returning home, Tally befriended another imperfect named Shay.

Shay's Influence

Shay introduced Tally to hoverboarding and challenging the law. As their bond deepened, Shay confided in Tally about the Rusted Ruins, a place where imperfections were accepted. Shay longed to escape to the Rusted Ruins, but Tally remained fixated on becoming perfect and reuniting with Peris in the City of Perfection. Shay gave Tally a coded letter with directions to the hiding place, a secret only Tally could decipher. Tally promised to keep Shay's secret.

Part 2: The Operation

The Journey

On the day of the operation, Tally took a hovercraft to the designated location. A Perfect was waiting for her. She was taken to Special Circumstances, where they revealed Shay's escape and demanded Tally's cooperation in locating her. They threatened to withhold the operation if Tally refused.

The Ultimatum

Under pressure, Tally revealed Shay's destination: the Smoke. Dr. Cable presented Tally with a kit, making it clear that her cooperation was the price of perfection.
