Strategic Planning and Management

Strategic Planning: The process by which an organization takes decisions, processes, and analyzes internal and external information to assess the present situation of the company and its competitiveness, with the purpose of anticipating and deciding to inspire a process in a strategic culture.

Management: The administrative management of resources.

Manager: A position in a company held by the person who achieves the objectives of the organization and performs functions to plan, organize, manage, and control.

Strategic Management: A business planning process that defines what you want to achieve and uses strategies to reduce uncertainty with flexible options to respond to issues impacting the organization. It consists of two pillars:

  • Strategic planning: As expected.
  • Strategic response: Unexpected.

Defining Goals and Objectives

Goals: The quantification of an objective to be achieved in a specified time with the necessary resources.

Objectives: The final results of planned activities. They provide a sense of direction for people in the organization, serve as a guide for action, help focus and prioritize, and legitimize resource allocations.

Organizational Values and Principles

Organization: A group of people seeking to work together to achieve common goals and objectives.

Values: Guiding principles that govern and regulate the behavior of persons in any situation. They exert a strong influence on the attitudes of people. Examples include Honesty, Responsibility, Commitment, and Respect.

Principles: Rules or standards of conduct that guide action. These are rules of a general character, maximally universal, such as loving one's neighbor, not lying, and respecting life. Moral principles are called precepts or maxims. Principles are statements of human beings themselves, supporting their need for development and happiness; they are universal and can be seen in the majority of doctrines and religions throughout the history of mankind.

Strategy and Professional Development

Strategy: The process by which a selected path is taken to reach a future state; a set of actions carried out to achieve a particular purpose.
