Saving Endangered Languages

While the languages of powerful groups have spread, the languages of smaller cultures have disappeared. Some languages have often been discriminated against. Also, small communities sometimes stop speaking their own language and choose the most popular one, so when the older speakers die, the original languages die as well.
Some people are working on a project to prevent endangered languages from disappearing. They are recording the speakers of these languages on all continents.

The Berlin Wall's History

Built in 1961, the Berlin Wall stopped East Germans who wanted to escape their communist country to live in the democratic West.
On November 9th, 1989, East Berliners broke the barriers of the wall at the crossing points because the communist government was falling.
In the meantime (28 years), more than 150 people were killed while trying to cross it.

Digital Avatars in the Virtual World

"Avatars" are images that people create to chat, play games, or work in the virtual world. Nowadays, they are everywhere. Some avatars in online worlds can even talk, walk, fly, meet people, go shopping, and go to classes.
The avatar you choose says a lot about your personality. Most people create avatars that look like them and behave like them, too.
Soon, over 80% of internet users will have at least one avatar, and in some countries, there will be more avatars than real people!

The Little Mystery Solved

Philip Trent met Marion Silvester, whom he had known for a long time, as she was leaving Dr. Kozicki's office, where she worked as a secretary. He offered to take her home, and she accepted, asking him to help her with a mystery she was not able to solve on her own.
When they got to her flat, Marion explained that she was sure somebody was getting into her flat while she was away at work. Trent promised he would try to find out and started to investigate, making some inquiries about Dr. Kozicki.
He then discovered that the doctor's son was a criminal who had been released from prison two weeks ago but was again in trouble because he had tried to kill an old partner. The police were after him, so he needed a place to hide, and the doctor had helped him use Marion's flat while she was not there.
Finally, the "little mystery" was solved, and George Jackson (Dr. Kozicki's son) was caught and taken to prison again.
