Five Feet Apart: A Heartbreaking Tale of Love and Sacrifice

English1.2 KB

Last year, I saw a film called Five Feet Apart. Personally, I thought it would be like other romance films that end happily, but it was not. The film is about two teenagers who have cystic fibrosis, a different type from each other. They meet in a hospital and become friends.

Stella is an organized person who likes helping people, just like her best friend Poe, who helps Will endure his treatment. They start falling in love, and throughout the film, we can appreciate the familiarity between the nurses, doctors, and both guys. Unfortunately, Poe dies, and Stella decides to talk to Will. She tells him she doesn't want to live anymore.

Finally, they start dating despite knowing they can't be close to each other. One night, Stella falls into a lake, and Will is forced to save her by breaking the distance they have to keep. When they are in the hospital, they are informed that Stella will receive new lungs. Will becomes afraid because he thinks he may have infected Stella, so he decides to get away from her, the woman he loves.

I really think he acted well because if he hadn't gotten away from her, both of them would probably be dead.

I liked the open ending of the film.
