2. Noise Effects and Reduction Strategies

Effects:

• Occupational Deafness: Temporary or permanent hearing loss, which can be irreversible.
• Systemic Issues: Alterations in blood pressure, respiratory rate, and digestive function.

Reduction Actions:

• Modify or isolate machinery.
• Utilize soundproof booths.
• Install acoustic screens between workers and machines; soundproof walls and ceilings.

3. Types of Contaminants and Generation

• Dust: Created by breaking solid materials into small particles that remain suspended in the air. Produced by drilling, sanding, or grinding.
• Mist: Formed from liquid condensates or atomized liquids. Generated during spray painting.
• Smoke: Formed by vaporizing solid materials at high temperatures. Occurs during welding or foundry work.
• Gas: Substances that disperse in the air, such as carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, helium, or nitrogen.
• Vapors: Gaseous substances that are solid or liquid at room temperature, such as gasoline or solvents.
• Oxygen Deficiency: Occurs when the oxygen percentage in the air is less than 17%.

4. Respiratory Protection Equipment (RPE) Usage

Usage is generally governed by Royal Decree 773/1997. However, specific regulations for substances like asbestos, lead, and vinyl chloride mandate that usage time should be the absolute minimum necessary, with a maximum limit of 4 hours per day.

5. High Voltage Work Equipment
