Engineer's African Sanctuary: War's Echoes and Compassion
Summary of Events
It concerns an engineer, Mario, who possesses considerable wealth. This engineer lost his family during the Second World War as a child. To escape that tragedy, he decides to travel to Africa and builds a large, beautiful house there. Unfortunately, war re-enters his life through two rival factions, initiating an absurd conflict that results in massacres, orphans, and maimed individuals. Many children come to Mario's large house seeking refuge, and he welcomes them with open arms. However, the military does not look kindly upon his charity and threatens him. In the end, Mario's house is not destroyed due to a colonel, who perhaps was an angel in disguise.
Characters
Mario
Mario was a wealthy engineer who, despite his riches, was very melancholic due to the loss of all his relatives in the Second World War. Because of this tragedy, he decided to leave his job and travel to Africa. War found him there again, and that is when his great house in Africa began sheltering children who were victims of the conflict. This shows that despite his great wealth, he also possesses a great heart.
Sammy
Sammy was Mario's faithful assistant, a great person like him. He was not only an assistant but also a friend to Mario. He helped him in every way he could and lived with him. Sammy also provided financial assistance to the disadvantaged children.
Kito
Kito was a poor African child orphaned by the war. Mario saved him from starvation when he was being eaten by vultures. Mario taught him to speak and helped him, much like Sammy. Kito's best friend was a dog named Bum.
Bum
Bum was the dog that almost fell prey to vultures while protecting Kito. He was a faithful and cordial dog. Kito liked to play near the house with Bum.
Caterina
Caterina was a European tourist spending a vacation in Africa. She found a poor girl who had lost both legs due to a landmine. Caterina wanted to take the girl to a hotel, but they would not allow her to stay. So, she took the girl to Mario's care, where she lived with him and the other disadvantaged children.
Colonel
This man was the one who visited Mario's house. He wanted to find out if Mario was helping these people out of genuine compassion or for publicity. After discovering the truth, he left. Perhaps he was considered an angel in the end.
