DUI Awareness Campaign: A Student Film Project
As a group, we chose to create a video campaign against irresponsible drivers who drive under the influence of substances. Our objective is to ensure people take account of the tragic accidents and fatalities that occur. In addition to acting, I will be responsible for the video production. This project is designed to improve our fluency and gesticulation while speaking.
The Narrative and Production Roles
The plot involves a group of young people who are approached by a man. The youth are surprised when the man explains how he was incapacitated by a leg injury sustained in a traffic accident. He shares that he did not intend to consume alcohol, but his friends insisted, and in his immaturity, he agreed. He informs the young people that they must be responsible, as they cannot put others' lives at risk. The group learns a valuable lesson and thanks the man for his wise advice.
Our Team and Responsibilities
- Joaquin Silva & Alonso Vasquez: Scene design and scriptwriting.
- Daniel Fabres: Director and wardrobe oversight.
- Vicente Saavedra: Character costumes.
- Joaquin Silva: Technology, camera, and sound.
- My Role: One of the young people who first perceives the man's presence.
Strengths, Weaknesses, and Learning Outcomes
Our strength lies in our clear pronunciation and previous experience making videos. However, our biggest disadvantage is that our English is not yet fully fluent. We also faced limitations regarding coordination and finding the right locations to record.
Personal Experience and Recommendations
This project promotes secure communication in English, allowing us to learn new vocabulary and maintain moderately fluent conversations. Personally, I enjoyed the work, though I found it challenging to learn the dialogue and coordinate schedules. For future projects, I recommend:
- Allocating more time for the recording process.
- Using more sophisticated recording equipment.
Ultimately, the greatest benefit of this project is the way it opens many doors for my future professional and personal growth.
