ITEM 9 - WATER RESOURCES
USES OF WATER
Domestic or urban: the average consumption of drinking water a person in urban and industrialized is 250 L / day and 91,200 L / year. The average consumption of water for domestic use is 126 L / person / day and 45.000L / year.
Industrial applications: these applications are industrial uses of water:
- Coolant (used as a fluid that absorbs heat through different mechanisms. Ex: boiler circuit.
- Cleaning agent (cleaning of facilities, machinery etc.)
- (Also used for motor vehicles or as feedstock for the production of detergents for example)
Agriculture: the biggest demands from irrigation water. There are 2 major types of irrigation:
- Irrigation by gravity (water moves by gravity. EX irrigation blanket or flood irrigation).
- Pressurized Irrigation (water moves you apply power. Ex: spray irrigation).
MANAGEMENT OF WATER
SEARCH IS BASED IN NEW RESOURCES FOR THE USE OF WATER:
Construction of new dams (regulate river flow and flood control, electricity production and allows the storage of extra water for dry periods)
Desalination of sea water (drinking water is obtained from seawater at a reasonable cost. This invention produces waste and carries a high energy consumption.)
RECYCLING OF WATER (this is to reuse wastewater purifying-KES)
TRANSVASSAMENTS (transfer of water from areas where water is plentiful to areas where it is scarce). This resource represents a significant cost and time.)
IMPROVEMENT OF EXISTING RESOURCES MANAGEMENT (change management needed to supply a demand, with some measures to save water):
SAVING MEASURES general
- Improved network and distribution channels to reduce water loss.
- Reforestation of headers facilitae to prevent erosion and water infiltration.
- Implementation of a pricing policy to encourage reduced consumption and paralyzes its misuse.
- Facilities saving equipment, such as, for example, dual flush toilets download.
SAVING MEASURES IN AGRICULTURE
- Changing irrigation systems / - repair of pipelines or revestimenr
- Rethinking the type conrreus and the need for new irrigation.
SAVING MEASURES IN THE CONSUMER CITY
- Opt for technological innovation (new diffusers water ...) / - Eslatviar water (with the washer, the shower ...)
- Water the garden in the evening because the sun does not affect much of the water and evaporated.
- Reuse or regenerate urban sewage treated.
SAVING MEASURES IN THE INDUSTRIAL CONSUMPTION
- Recycling water in cooling circuits and the production process.
- Reuse of treated water
- Deployment of devices to prevent leaks.
