Pepsin: An enzyme responsible for digestion.
HCL (cloridico acid) activates the pepsin and promotes its action to facilitate the breakdown of food and fiber on the other hand destroys the bacteria it may contain.
Digestive processes in the small intestine:
The small intestine is a tube about 6 or 7 meters Pirolo extending from the ileocecal valve shaft that separates the large intestine. It is divided into three sections:
-Duodenum: the first portion.
-jejunum: the longest stretch.
-ileum: is the final part which flows into the large intestine.
LIVER: it is an organ that is located on the right side of the abdomen and partially covers the stomach. It produces bile, which is poured into the duodenum through the ampulla of vater. The secretion of bile is accumulated directly on the gallbladder.
PANCREAS:is an elongated gland located behind and below the stomach. Plays a dual function:
-produces hormones that regulate the amount of glucose in the internal environment and its accumulation in the liver.
-produces pancreatic juice that is poured into the duodenum through the ampulla of vater. This juice contains enzymes capable of digesting the types of molecules in food carbohydrates, fats and proteins.
The mixture of chyme are intestinal juice, pancreatic juice and bile.
As a result of digestion of food molecules originate serving of nutrients to the cells:
-Monosaccharides
-Glycerol or fatty acids obtained from fats.
-Amino acids obtained from protein.
Nutrient Absorption:
Monosaccharides, glycerine, minoácidos, water, minerals and vitamins need not be digested, they have to go to the cells, for it must pass from the intestines to the blood to be distributed throughout the body. This process is called absorption.
The inner wall of the small intestine is lined by many folds villus denominadaas tours by many blood capillaries that collect nutrients obtained after digestion.
Digestive process in the large intestine:
Finalaizada Once nutientes absorption of the remnants of undigested alimenntos pass into the bowel is performed grueso.Hay water absorption and compaction of waste digestion to form the stool undigested residues Fecales.Estos progress due to movements peristalsis and are passed out through the anus.
