because Fernando 7 wanted to take control. Some Spanish are liberal and they wanted more political freedom.

HOW:

WHO:

because liberals wanted to restore constitution of 1812, Ferdinand 7 opened fight between liberals and absolutism.

because of the war against France and this independence of colonies of American there was a crisis.
Fernando 7 wanted her daughter to be queen so he did the pragmatic santion. This was against the salic law so absolutists were opposed


SIX YEARS OF DEMOCRACY

THE REVOLUTION:

WHAT:

-revolutionary juntas -battle of Alcolea -Cortes drafted a constitution -provisional government

WHEN:

1868-1869

WHO:

Prim -Serrano -Topete

HOW:

supported by democrats unionist and progressives. -democrats win
-basing that consist in the democratic principles

WHY:

because the Cortes wanted a new constitution. Because progressives and democrats wanted to acquire the power so they forced Isabelle 2 and Alfonso 12 into exile in Alcolea. They established a provisional government.

MONARCHY OF AMODEO

WHAT:

-Amodeo of Savoy into power -General Prim was assassinated - war in the island of Cuba -Amodeo 1 abdicated - Charles 7 declared king by the Carlists

WHEN:

1870-1873

WHO:

Amodeo of Savoy -General Prim -Charles 7

HOW:

moderates and some representatives of the church were against Amodeo

WHY:

Amadeo 1 acquired the power but he had two opponents moderates and representatives of the church. All those problems culminated with the war in Cuba and then Amadeo 1 abdicated.

THE FIRST REPUBLIC

WHAT:

-Amadeo 1 abdicated -republic established -federal constitutions -four presidents in a year -Cortes dissolved -Serrano head of the state -conservative republican regime.

WHO:

Figueras -Pi y Margell -Amadeo 1 -Salmeron -Castelar -Pavia -Serrano

HOW:

elections won by federal republicans -Cortes voted to form a republic -a cap led by General Pavia dissolved the Cortes and made Serrano the head of the state

WHY:

Cortes voted to form a republic, federal republicans won the elections and the Cortes drafted a new federal constitution.
the republic had 4 presidents in one year but a series of problems made it proper establishment impossible. A cap led by Pavia dissolved the Cortes and Serrano the head of state
