How is Mao enabled by the political situation in China during the time of the Civil War against the Nationalists?

In 1937, Japan invaded China, which had a major impact on the Chinese Civil War. As a response to the invasion, Chiang Kai-shek and the nationalists fled into the far SW part of the country, which eliminated them as an active combatant against Japanese aggression. This made people see the Nationalists as cowards, as they failed to stand up for the Chinese people and face the Japanese head-on. In contrast, the CCP base in the northwest was on the front line against Japan’s troops. The Communists successfully mobilized the peasants to use guerrilla warfare to fight the invaders. This resistance to Japan gained the CCP a strong following among the Chinese people, and allowed Mao Zedong to gain much credibility with the Chinese people.

State farms that had been collectively run were dismantled

Favored opening China to what was to be called the global economy, opening up to other countries and trading with them

Government eased its control over factories and large businesses

The number of state-owned industries decreased, and factory owners began to make decisions without the CCP dictating operations

Businesses then began to seek profits

The CCP even proclaimed that 'to get rich is glorious,' and Chinese-made goods poured into the markets of the world

Due to Deng's reforms, the Chinese economy opened itself up to the world

It exported mass-produced goods and invited foreign investment

Mao would likely be rolling in his grave: China had taken the capitalist road
