Kitty, an 18-year-old veterinary medicine student, faces the usual academic pressures of exams. Yet, today brings a surge of joy: she's attending a Bruce Springsteen concert tonight at the Palau Sant Jordi with her best friend, Lali, and two other friends, Toni and Christ, both secretly in love with her. Just as they are about to leave, Kitty learns that Lali cannot go because her father won't allow it. At the entrance of the Palau Sant Jordi, they encounter Nellie, a girl from Zaragoza, from whom Kitty buys her friend's ticket. The concert proceeds as planned, and the four spend three hours dancing and singing along. Afterward, they decide to visit some bars. In one, Christ, a guitarist, plays a piece, as he has an audition tomorrow to join a band. At another bar, they meet a friend who invites them to a party in a Barcelona neighborhood. There, Christ and Nellie share a kiss, but Christ still harbors feelings for Kitty. Toni takes Kitty aside and confesses his feelings, though she makes it clear she doesn't want to be romantically involved with anyone at the moment. Around four o'clock, Nellie has to leave to return to Zaragoza, but she gives them her phone number to stay in touch. After Nellie departs, Christ and Toni decide to go to the beach to watch the sunrise, an idea Kitty loves. But suddenly, on a street in the Ronda Litoral, they collide head-on with a car that ran a red light. The full impact is absorbed by the driver's seat, where Kitty was sitting. Enraged, Leonardo gets into his car and speeds recklessly through Barcelona. But when he runs a red light at an intersection, his car collides with a vehicle carrying three young people, driven by a girl. After the collision, his car explodes in flames on the Ronda Litoral, his last thoughts consumed by his wife and son.

Of course, for a heart to become available, a person must die. But for the parents of 16-year-old Mary, this heart represents their last, desperate hope. The doctor announces to the media that the heart must arrive within 24 hours, or the girl will die. He also notes that a reduction in traffic accidents has unfortunately led to a decrease in organ donations. At dawn, Mary's parents are desperate, and the doctor can only ask them to wait. Suddenly, the doctor joyfully informs them that a compatible heart has become available from Barcelona and is also compatible with their daughter.
