Herzberg Two-Factor Theory: Motivators and Hygiene Factors
Herzberg Two-Factor Theory
HERZBERG: theory of two factors. People are influenced by two factors:
1. Motivator Factors and Satisfaction
The satisfaction is primarily the result of motivational factors. Motivator factors help to increase individual satisfaction but have little effect on dissatisfaction.
2. Hygiene Factors and Dissatisfaction
Dissatisfaction is primarily the result of hygiene factors. If hygiene factors are missing or inadequate they cause dissatisfaction, but their presence has little effect on long-term satisfaction.
Factors whose lack of hygiene creates dissatisfaction:
- salary and benefits
- business policy and organization
- relationships with coworkers
- environment Treasury ...
Factors of satisfaction:
- achievement
- recognition
- job independence
- responsibility ...
External Influences on Consumer Behavior
External influences are conditions outside the consumer that will influence their behavior when making a purchase. The macro environment is divided into the following:
Culture
Culture: a set of norms, beliefs, and customs.
The "P"
'P' is determined by the product, price, distribution and media.
The Demographic Environment
The demographic environment has an impact on shopping habits and consumption of specific items.
The Economic Environment
The economic environment determines income, employment levels, the exchange rate, the interest rate on money, and inflation.
The Legal and Political Environment
The legal and political environment leads to greater liberalization of the economy as well as business opportunities.
The Technological Environment
The technological environment results in renewal (through changes) of the products offered.
The Environmental / Organic Trend
The environment: a wide variety of organic products, organic foods, which do not incorporate phosphate detergents, recyclable packaging, etc. It is encouraged by both public authorities and private undertakings.
Dynamics of Hygiene Factors
DYNAMICS OF HEALTH:
- Hygiene factors focus on the context in which the work develops and the conditions surrounding it. The dynamics in hygiene is to avoid the anxiety that the environment can cause.
- When hygiene factors deteriorate to a level below which employees consider acceptable, there is job dissatisfaction directly affecting the attitude of the subject.
- When these factors have been satisfied or brought to acceptable levels, there will be reduced dissatisfaction but not necessarily positive satisfaction.
- People are more likely to be dissatisfied in a negative way, but they are rarely satisfied by hygiene factors alone.
- You must create a common system of integrated health systems.
- The prevention of dissatisfaction is as important as the promotion of motivation and satisfaction.
- Hygiene factors operate independently of the motivators. An individual may be highly motivated in their work and dissatisfied with their working environment; both types of factors should be addressed to create incentives.
- All hygiene factors are important, although they often differ considerably in impact.
- Improvements in hygiene factors tend to have short-term effects.
- Hygiene needs or maintenance are cyclical in nature and can return to a starting point; this can take the form of the "What have you done for me lately?" syndrome.
Hygienic needs increase from the zero point and have no definitive end point.
