Dear Sir/Madam,
I am writing to ask for information about your language course in the UK. I am especially interested in an intensive course of three or four weeks because it is necessary for my job. I am 26 years old and I work at Royal Queen Health in London as a nurse.
I do not have any problems with reading and listening, but my main challenge is speaking English with my family or workmates. The book I am currently studying is pre-intermediate to achieve level A2.
I have looked at your website, but there is no information about intensive courses for next summer. Could you please send me information about dates and prices? I would also like some information about accommodation. I have a few questions for you:
- When does the school start?
- How many students will be in my class?
I hope to hear from you soon.
Best regards,
Juan
Task 2: Informal Invitation to a Friend
Task Description: Write an email (about 150 words) to a friend talking to him/her about your Easter holidays (where you went, what you did, etc.). Invite him/her to spend a few days with you. Give him/her advice on the best time to come and tell him/her about your plans for his/her stay.
Informal Email Draft
Dear Diego,
It's been a long while since I heard your news. I imagine that all that studying and your work hardly give you any time left at the end of the day. It's the same with me; as much as I try, I find very little time available for hobbies and friends.
I should like to make you a proposition! What would you think about spending a few days together, you and I, during this Easter break? My parents will let me have their mountain cabin, which is up in the hills near Igualada. It is situated 5 kilometers from the Montserrat Mountains with wonderful views of the valley. It's very rustic, basic, and has no central heating, but it comes fully equipped, clean, and has a cozy fireplace.
I have all of the Easter week free, so you can choose the days that suit you best. Call me or write to me to let me know your reply. As you know, Diego, I am very keen to see you again; let's take advantage of this break coming up!
Best regards, and I hope to hear your answer soon.
Juan
