My Dorm Room: A Castle of Friendship

I lived 16 years, and I made countless relationships with numerous people. When I first came to KMLA, I felt a bit nervous since I never experienced dormitory life. To me, my room meant more than just a place to live in. Like a little castle, I felt cozy and comfortable, and no one could disrupt my comfort. However, my two roommates who lived with me for the first time in my life each possessed distinct and charming characteristics, and all the memories and experiences with my roommates granted me with a strong bond with them. Before I came to KMLA, one of the graduate students told me, sharing a dorm with friends will help me to get closer and share internal emotions with them, feeling precious to each other more than anything else in KMLA. Now years have passed, and I always feel my room with my darling friends is much more comfortable and delightful than my room where I used to spend my time alone.

Overcoming Challenges and Building Bonds

At first, my first roommates--성민 and 정근--and I went through several conflicts due to our different life patterns. However, we got to know each other as time passed, by staying up all night, talking about personal issues and emotionally communicating with each other. By listening to their stories, I reflected on my past and regretted my attitudes. 성민 lived his life full of energy and treated his family with his best. 정근 always faced dilemmas with passion, and he almost never gave up. I always thought I was the only one who lives life so busy, but by looking at 성민 and 정근, I felt like a frog in the well, full of imperiousness.

Learning and Growing Together

Other than attitudes, they also helped me to fix my lifestyle. I learned how to cooperate to keep our room tidy, how to keep my daily routine well-ordered, and how to wake up early without whining. They helped me to live KMLA life more efficiently. I sincerely love my first roommates, and I know that they also love me. I recently heard that one girl talked about bad things about me, and my roommates laughed at her and told her that I'm not the person who may behave like what she talked about. We made a vow on the last day in our room, to meet again after 20 years, and we surely will introduce each other to each other's families, as the most wonderful roommates.
