Architecture in Andalusia: Baena Homes and Granada Campus
A Traditional Family Home in Baena, Córdoba
My house, located in Baena in the province of Córdoba, is a construction from forty years ago. It spans one hundred and thirty square meters and is surrounded by trees and a garden. The building consists of three floors:
- The Ground Floor: This basement level includes a courtyard, a laundry room, and the boiler room. It also features a swimming pool for the summer and a bathroom equipped with a shower, washbasin, and toilet.
- The First Floor: Here we find the hall, the lounge, and the living room. In winter, this is the coldest part of the house, resulting in high fuel expenses for heating. This floor also contains the kitchen, which is fully equipped with a sink, microwave, dishwasher, and refrigerator.
- The Second Floor: This level houses three bedrooms for my parents, my brother, and myself. Additionally, there are two bathrooms with bathtubs and a dedicated guest room.
Unique Architectural Features
What pleases me most about my house are the peculiarly shaped stairs, the abundance of windows throughout the entire building, and the expansive garden. Overall, I believe it is a lovely place to live with a very agreeable atmosphere for spending weekends.
The University of Technical Architecture in Granada
The University of Technical Architecture is situated in Granada. Like my house, it was built forty years ago and covers an area of three hundred square meters, complete with surrounding trees and gardens. It is also composed of three floors:
- Ground Floor: The basement level contains a courtyard, a computer science room, and the boiler room.
- First Floor: This floor houses the hall, the reception area, and the secretary's office. Similar to my home, it can be quite cold in the winter, requiring significant heating.
- Upper Floors: The rest of the building is filled with theoretical classrooms and drawing studios where students spend their most productive moments.
Campus Life and Facilities
In the center of the university, there is a slow but highly useful elevator. Near the exit, you will find the cafeteria and its terrace, which is the social heart of the campus. This is where students eat, drink, and rest between classes. One of the most appreciated features is the abundance of work tables distributed throughout the building. However, a negative aspect is the lack of silence in the corridors. In conclusion, it is one of the most beautiful universities I have seen, thanks to its cafeteria and its prime location in the center of Granada.
