Psychomotor Skills: Key Definitions and Concepts

Psychomotor Discipline

Psychomotor discipline aims at the harmonious development of a person through techniques that use motor experiences, cognitive and affective, enabling the relationship with oneself and with the outside world, regardless of age. It is used in the fields of prevention, rehabilitation, and treatment.

Types of Psychomotor Approaches

  • Directive or Addressed Psychomotor: Based on the application of a psychomotor test set from which the patient's difficulties and the intervention designed to overcome the deficit are identified.
  • Experiential or Relational Psychomotor: A more open pedagogical vision that considers the child the manager of their own learning through spontaneous play.

Emergency Mobilization & Safety Positions: A Quick Guide

Sport and physical education3.45 KB

Assessing the Need for Mobilization

In many cases, victims do not fully recover from initial first aid. It's often appropriate to consult professional services to confirm the best course of action. When deciding whether to evacuate to a hospital emergency room, determine if it's appropriate to wait for emergency services or if it's preferable to move the person to a safe location.

Improper handling and transport can aggravate injuries, especially fractures that could become open fractures if not handled correctly.

The recommended action sequence is:

  1. Perform an emergency assessment and take appropriate actions on site.
  2. Stabilize vital functions.
  3. Decide whether to wait for emergency services or transfer the person to a hospital.
  4. Place the person in

Handball: How It's Played

Players advance the ball down the court by dribbling and passing. They are allowed to dribble for an unlimited amount of time, run with the ball for up to three steps before and after dribbling, and hold the ball without moving for three seconds. Players are not allowed to pull, hit, or punch the ball out of an opponent's hands, endanger an opponent with the ball, or make contact with the ball below the knees. Free throws are awarded to the opponent in the event of minor fouls or violations. A seven-meter penalty shot is awarded to the opponent when major violations are committed.

Skills & Techniques

Basic Catching Technique

  • The thumbs and fingers should form the shape of a triangle.
  • Both hands form a "bowl/basket,"

Understanding Visual Impairment: Conditions, Causes, and Support

Sport and physical education6.42 KB

Understanding Visual Disability

To better comprehend visual disability, it's important to distinguish between related concepts:

  • Deficiency

A loss or abnormality of psychological, physiological, or anatomical structure or function. Example: An alteration of the cornea.

  • Disability

A restriction or inability to perform an activity in the manner or within the range considered normal for a human being. Example: Difficulty distinguishing colors or judging the distance of objects.

  • Handicap

A disadvantage for a given individual, resulting from a deficiency or disability, that limits or prevents the fulfillment of a role that is normal (depending on age, sex, social and cultural factors) for that individual. Example: Being blind in a society not adapted for

Volleyball Regulations

Player Placement Rules

  • Rotation: Teams rotate positions clockwise after winning the serve following a point scored by the opponent.
  • Positions: Front-row players (attackers) occupy zones 2, 3, and 4. Back-row players (defenders) occupy zones 5, 6, and 1.

Ball Handling Rules

Players can hit the ball with any part of their body.

Common Ball Handling Fouls

  1. The ball touches the ground within the court boundaries.
  2. A player illegally holds, catches, or throws the ball (carrying).
  3. A player touches the ball twice consecutively (double hit), except during blocking or potentially on the first team contact depending on the specific rule set.
  4. A team contacts the ball more than three times consecutively (excluding a block contact).

Understanding Prions, Infections, and Spinal Anatomy

Prions and Disease Transmission

Prions are viral proteins that cause diseases. Direct transmission is not common, but the disease can appear several years after exposure to surgical instruments, needles, or other objects used on infected corpses. Therefore, it is crucial to destroy these instruments. STH or GH, this hormone found in the pituitary of dead bodies, requires disinfection of equipment to prevent contamination of the conjunctiva and injured nerve or blood tissue.

Tuberculosis Transmission and Disinfection

Tuberculosis is transmitted through inhalation. When handling fresh infected lungs, they should be perfused with sliced formalin before using routine disinfectants. This increases the time for disinfestation.

Human Anatomy and Physiology: Muscles, Respiration, Circulation, and Chemical Composition

Muscle Contractility and Mechanism

What is the unit of muscle contractility and how would you explain briefly the mechanism of muscle contraction?

The basic unit of muscle contraction is the sarcomere. It is composed of protein filaments: actin and myosin. Actin filaments are fixed in a longitudinal direction, while myosin filaments are free. During contraction, the length of the actin and myosin filaments does not change. Instead, the sarcomere shortens due to the sliding of the actin filaments over the myosin filaments towards the center of the sarcomere. This sliding is driven by the interaction between actin and myosin, which is regulated by calcium ions. Calcium is essential for muscle contraction.

Play and Games in Physical Education and Learning

Definition and Nature of Play

Play (sometimes called game) is a form of behavior with both biological and cultural dimensions. It has been defined in many ways over time, but it is generally characterized by a variety of features: voluntary, deliberate, temporary, and qualitatively distinct from ordinary life. Play often exists in a space between fiction and reality and is experienced as a pleasurable activity in itself. Over time the concept has had various definitions, but its core characteristics remain consistent.

Historical Development and Social Context

Play has evolved in parallel with social development and is as old as humanity. In many societies, children's play activities were once closely linked to adult work: children began to take...
