Eleanitz: A Multilingual Education Project

ELEANITZ, meaning "multilingual" in Basque, is a project launched in 1991 to prepare students for a multilingual and multicultural Europe. It involves teaching Basque and Spanish, the region's official languages, and introducing English and French within a common methodological and curricular framework.

Eleanitz English, a component of this integrated language policy, provides curriculum, materials, and training for teaching English to students aged 4-16. Activities include stories, booklets, and songs, utilizing materials like folders, crayons, and booklets. While used in many private schools, the materials are not publicly available.

The Transformative Power of Yoga

My favorite pastime is yoga. Why do I like yoga so much? I practice at least twice a week because it makes me feel good, relaxes me, and serves as both a mental and physical challenge.

Why Should We Practice Yoga?

  • Strengthens muscles and bones
  • Improves flexibility and posture
  • Relieves back pain
  • Promotes longevity and burns calories
  • Enhances breathing and mood

Yoga helps you forget the stress accumulated during the work week. I encourage everyone to practice yoga to become aware of the present moment, manage thoughts about the past and future, and allow yourself time to relax completely.

The Rise of Online Education

Studying online offers unique benefits and opportunities that traditional classrooms cannot match. As the...

Analyzing Performance: The Impact of Attacking Mentality on Defensive Behavior

Language and literature3.46 KB

In this essay, I am going to analyze performance to prove that the 'attacking mentality' of Abercrombie (Clarke Peters) changes the 'defensive mentality' of Dixon (Sam Rockwell). By being confident and decisive, Abercrombie will change Dixon's behavior from confrontational to submissive as he realizes his mistake and regrets his behavior. To demonstrate this, I will analyze the rhetorical strategies of film performance in both characters.

In regard to body movement and posture, Abercrombie's movement is direct, strong, slow, and free, as if he has taken control of the police station and is sure about what he is doing and saying. On the other hand, Dixon's movement is completely the opposite. Despite being the one who is supposed to be free,

Linguistic Patterns and Stylistic Uses of Synonyms

Language and literature3.01 KB

Differences Between Synonyms

Bloomfield points out that complete synonyms do not exist. W. E. Collinson highlights the typical differences between synonyms.

Synonymic Patterns

Synonyms are organized according to two main principles, though there is also a third type:

The Double Scale: Saxon vs. Latin

The Saxon word is normally more spontaneous, informal, and unpretentious—warmer and homelier. The Latin word is normally longer and phonetically different. Example: Bodily – corporal; Answer – reply. Sometimes the native term is rarer and more literary than the foreign one. This can be explained through the history of the two words involved.

The Triple Scale: Native, French, and Latin or Greek

The native synonym is the simplest and most ordinary...

Spanish Language Variations: Social, Regional, and Situational

Understanding Spanish Language Varieties

The Spanish language, spoken by millions worldwide, exhibits a rich tapestry of variations. These differences arise from various factors, including social context, geographical location, and the specific communicative situation. Understanding these varieties helps us appreciate the dynamic nature of language and how speakers adapt their communication.

Social Varieties and Language Levels

Social varieties refer to the different ways speakers use language, often associated with specific cultural levels or social groups. These variations determine the specific linguistic level employed. Consider how an individual might adapt their language use in different scenarios:
