Juan Ramón Jiménez and the Avant-Garde Movements: Poetry, Futurism, Cubism, Dadaism and Surrealism

Geology3.14 KB

Juan Ramón Jiménez

JRJ: Born in the town of Huelva and raised in Moguer. His wife Zenobia Camprubí gave him some stability. He was exiled, and his condition was recognized with the Nobel Prize.

In his work, the importance of style stands out, with a tendency to use the adjective in the infinitive form, seeking to dress things in the most essential way.

In the usual essence of his work, paradoxes, introductions and his spirit manifest themselves as unstable. The indecision of his work shows distinct combinations, although his poetry in its major phases achieved prose.

ETPs:

  • 1st period, sensitive ETPA: From Ninfeas to Elegías. In these books, the romantic influence is still present, while the last ones establish a dialogue between the poet and

Social and Territorial Inequalities in Cities and Global Migration Patterns

Geology6.37 KB

Social and Territorial Differences

The phenomenon of globalization favors privileged areas in cities and within the same city, as well as other areas. In recent times, this has led to an acute social inequality.

Privileged Areas

People with high incomes reside in large private residential areas, where they have exclusive recreational spaces. Urban developments arise around these zones.

Marginalized Areas

People with low incomes live in precarious housing known as favelas or slums.

City Centers

On some occasions, historic city centers are recovered through the rehabilitation of buildings and gentrification.

In other cases, the districts of the city center deteriorate due to a lack of investment and infrastructure, and may be revitalized through private...

Post-War Capitalist Economy: US Dominance, Europe's Recovery and Social Change

Geology3.68 KB

The capitalist economy situation after the Second World War made the United States the first economic power in the world. In contrast to Europe, which was ruined by the war, the United States emerged strengthened.

The Bretton Woods System and the Global Economic Order

In 1944, the Bretton Woods agreement established a new monetary order based on the US dollar, which was convertible to gold, and on other currencies linked to the dollar. Its main objectives were to stabilize exchange rates and to create the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank, institutions that would offer credit and loans to countries that needed them.

The First Period of Growth: The 1950s and 1960s

During the 1950s and 1960s, the world experienced its first period of...

El Amor Brujo: Manuel de Falla's Gitanería in Music and Dance

Geology2.66 KB

El Amor Brujo: Manuel de Falla's Gitanería

The first audition of the first, second version of the work, with the number of table work, is known as El Amor Brujo (Love, the Sorcerer), a gitanería in one act and two tableaux, first staged in 1915.

The Music and Its Structure

The dance Danza del fuego (Fire Dance) and the song Canción del fuego fatuo open the work. A rhythmic dance accompanied by horns, piano, and strings gives way to the principal trumpet theme. The oboe begins the first violins' melody, of an oriental character, and the first oboe responds with a strong trumpet melody.

The first voice, feminine, with stamps, interprets the flamenco song written for the gypsies. The song is impregnated with a feeling of flamenco sensations, and...

Renewable Energy Sources: Harnessing Nature's Power

Geology3.05 KB

Turbine-Alternator Systems for Electricity Production

Most of these plants utilize turbine-alternator groups to produce electricity. Switching turbines consist of a rotating shaft and a blade that is driven by the force of water currents or by water vapor. The alternator converts the rotary motion of the turbine into electricity.

Conventional Thermal Power

Conventional thermal power uses the heat from different sources of energy, such as the combustion of different types of fuels or nuclear reactions.

  • Combustion Power Stations: These are power stations that produce electricity from burning coal or natural gas.
  • Nuclear Power Stations: These are fuel power stations in which the heat energy required to produce steam at a high temperature is achieved

Catalan Modernism: Architecture and Artistic Innovation

Geology2.39 KB

The Impressionist Period and Early Vanguard (1890-1910)

This era marked a significant rupture with the past, focusing on the discovery of new forms. The city underwent a transformation as the wealthy built homes featuring verandas and balconies.

Key Characteristics of Modernism

  • Cosmopolitanism: European art that spread throughout the world.
  • Rupture with the Past: A departure from historicism and eclecticism, where modern technology met the new bourgeois taste.
  • Importance of Ornamentation: A desire to eliminate heaviness, creating light effects and transparency, heavily influenced by Japanese naturalistic art.
  • Accentuated Lines: A predominance of curves, providing a sense of lightness, dynamism, and movement.
  • Material Diversity: The integration of

Temas existenciales y problemas humanos

Los escritores...

Realismo y Naturalismo en la Literatura Española: Características y Autores

Geology2.95 KB

Plastics, Materials and Ceramics: Types, Processes and Applications

Geology4 KB

1. Plastic Classification and Applications

There are 3 types of plastic: thermoplastics, thermosetting plastics and elastomers.

Thermoplastics

Thermoplastics are the most common plastics. They are obtained from petroleum and consist of long chains of molecules that are weakly linked to each other. Examples include PVC, PS, PE, polymethacrylate, Teflon, Plexiglas and nylon, used in pipes and many other products.

Thermosetting Plastics

Thermosetting plastics are formed by a chemical reaction of molecules linked together strongly in both directions. Examples include polyurethane, phenolic resins and melamine, used in dishes, electrical components and laminates.

Elastomers

Elastomers are obtained through a process called vulcanization, which mixes natural...

Causes and Types of Plate Tectonics, Mountain Formation and Folding

Geology5.14 KB

Causes of Lithospheric Plate Movement

Lithospheric plates move due to the internal heat activity of the Earth. The large amount of thermal energy built up in the planet's interior produces convective movements.

Convection currents in the interior of the fluid mantle consist of ascending and descending flows. The upper part of the fluid, which is less dense, tends to rise, while the lower part, which is denser, tends to sink.

The manifestations of convection caused by convective movements include: terrestrial magnetism, continental drift, volcanism, seismicity, and the segregation of materials by density.

How Lithospheric Plates Move

Lithospheric plates move through three mechanisms:

  1. Convection currents: The rock of the mantle is solid but very plastic.
