Italian Renaissance painting. Features.
4. General feature of Renaissance painting:
Perspective: The figures are painted but produce an effect almost sculptural three-dimensional (corporeality), ie, the man in three dimensions. The discovery of perspective drawing that gave priority to allow the birth of the project that is the essence of a work of art.
Techniques and methods: The most used is the canvas and the oil and we should also add the use of cartoons drawn in a study then moved to the walls through the stencil technique (with a cardboard print) ç
Topics: The undisputed star is the man, who may appear in the traditional manner as Fra Angelico and Botticelli painted, ie clothing, a gesture and a very elegant color and holding tight to the line drawing. Also this human figure can give us a solid feel and monumental as in the work of Masaccio.
Man can also appear as either portrait or profile of ¾ (depicted from the viewpoint of a person standing in front of the portrait but displaced slightly laterally).
All portraits always reflect psychological characteristics.
Landscape: Will you be making not only a source of funds but on an issue by itself. At first, man and landscape together by themselves, but the scenery is demanding a whole genre for the same but along the entire e4sto revival was not yet possible because we remember that man was the measure of all things and could not give up painting the human figure. Thus urban landscapes, architectural, natural and mythological man appears.
Religious Themes: The Bible, the saints, but usually the Madonna and child. Probably all Renaissance artists often create works the same way, ie the group forms a pyramid whose base is between the ends of the mantle of the Virgin and her feet.
Mythological: Widely used by Renaissance artists, is a return to Greek and Roman mythology.
Descacar the painters Fra Angelico, Massacio, Piero della Francesca and Botticelli.
